Metaplanet to set up wholly owned asset management unit in Hong Kong

Japan-listed Bitcoin treasury firm Metaplanet announced plans to establish Metaplanet Asset Management Asia, a wholly owned subsidiary in Hong Kong. The unit will be launched with initial capital of $1 million, and the company plans to complete incorporation in September 2026. The subsidiary will work with Metaplanet Asset Management, which was previously established in Miami, and will handle risk management tasks such as executing asset purchases and sales during Asian trading hours and monitoring positions and market moves. Its main products will include Bitcoin, Bitcoin-related stocks, and preferred securities issued by companies pursuing Bitcoin treasury strategies. Metaplanet is the world’s third-largest corporate BTC holder among listed companies.
