Symbiosis halts BTC routing after bridge hack

September 12, 2026, 12:24 AM
Cross-chain liquidity protocol Symbiosis said it halted BTC routing after a hacking attack exploited a vulnerability in its Bitcoin bridge. The attack occurred at around 4:28 p.m. UTC on Sept. 11, and about 15 BTC has been recovered and is being held in a team-controlled multisig wallet. Other routes, including EVM chains, Tron and TON, as well as Octopools, were not affected. Symbiosis has offered the attacker 20% of the stolen funds as a white-hat bounty and is investigating the final scale of the losses while preparing a compensation plan for affected liquidity providers, or LPs.
