Warren says tougher crypto bill will be pursued even if CLARITY Act fails
September 15, 2026, 5:55 PM
Ahead of a U.S. Senate vote on the CLARITY Act, Senator Elizabeth Warren said a stronger cryptocurrency regulation bill would still be pursued even if the current draft does not pass. Warren said the bill must include provisions on public officials’ asset restrictions, blocking illicit funds and national security to win passage.
Warren, who could become chair of the Senate Banking Committee depending on the outcome of the U.S. election in November, is also pressing Republicans to accept tough ethics provisions aimed at the Trump family’s crypto holdings worth hundreds of millions of dollars, including mandatory divestment going beyond a blind trust.
