Bitcoin holders posted about $1.03 billion in daily realized profit, the second-highest level this year and close to the annual peak of $1.04 billion, according to on-chain analytics firm Santiment. The jump came after BTC recently broke above $87,000, driving a sharp increase in profit-taking. Santiment said large-scale profit-taking often appears during short- and mid-term market correction phases and can increase selling pressure, but it does not necessarily signal a trend reversal.

A significant share of Bitcoin with exposed public keys stems from address reuse, and that amount is rising, according to on-chain analytics firm Glassnode. Over the past year, BTC held in reused addresses increased about 14.2% to 4.33 million from 3.79 million, equivalent to 21.5% of Bitcoin’s circulating supply. Reusing Bitcoin addresses can increase the likelihood of public key exposure, potentially making those holdings more vulnerable to future quantum computer attacks.

The U.S. AI industry has copied the crypto sector’s political fundraising strategy, but the results have fallen short of expectations, according to a Crypto Briefing analysis. The AI industry super PAC Leading The Future has raised about $140 million and spent $55.7 million through late September. Still, it has delivered few signature wins, Crypto Briefing said, pointing to the defeat of a candidate who received more than $8 million in support in a New York state House primary in June. By contrast, crypto industry super PAC Fairshake is focused on backing candidates who support the CLARITY Act and has more than $120 million in cash ahead of the 2026 U.S. midterm elections.

In a letter to Cantor Fitzgerald CEO Brandon Lutnick, Blumenthal requested materials on Tether’s reserve custody relationship and its anti-money laundering and sanctions compliance systems. Cyber Capital founder Justin Bons has questioned the decentralized structure of the XRP Ledger, U.Today reported. Bons said XRPL had operated for about two weeks without publicly releasing security-related source code, and the update is set to become effectively mandatory starting today. XRP Ledger developers have said they will release the source code for security-sensitive changes later. Bons also argued the recommended validator list, or UNL, provided by Ripple and others exerts excessive influence over network consensus, adding that selling XRP as a decentralized asset is a blatant fraud.

Wall Street tokenization could open a major new market for crypto, with some companies and projects potentially benefiting more than Bitcoin and Ethereum, according to a Citrini Research report cited by CoinDesk. Citrini Research said moving traditional financial assets such as stocks and bonds onto blockchains would create new business opportunities in trading, lending and payments. The firm added the structural flexibility of tokenization could create new markets for trading platforms, lenders, stablecoin issuers and companies that manage securities ownership records. It said the biggest beneficiaries are likely to be companies and crypto protocols that generate recurring fees as tokenized assets are traded, lent and used for payments. The report named Securitize, Coinbase, Robinhood and Circle as companies that could benefit if Wall Street financial assets move on-chain. It also cited Figure, SoFi and Bullish as candidates to gain from broader tokenization. Among crypto tokens, it highlighted Aerodrome, Maple, Ondo, Pendle and Derive.

More than 6 million BTC are held at addresses whose public keys have already been exposed on-chain, according to on-chain analytics firm Glassnode. CoinDesk reported the figure is equal to 31.2% of Bitcoin’s circulating supply. Glassnode co-founder Rafael Schultze-Kraft said the amount of BTC with exposed public keys has increased by 222,000 BTC, or about $18.2 billion, since a report released in May. Over the same period, total Bitcoin supply increased by only about 64,000 BTC, while about 1.79 million BTC held by exchanges are currently estimated to have exposed public keys. The analysis found no government-held Bitcoin in the U.S., UK, or El Salvador under this methodology to have exposed public keys. The report explained that public-key exposure does not immediately mean a wallet is at risk of being hacked, and the data measures whether public keys have been exposed based on how addresses are used. It added that no successful AI- or quantum-computing attacks on Bitcoin or Ethereum wallet cryptographic keys have been confirmed so far.

JPMorgan estimates about $50 billion has flowed into the cryptocurrency market so far this year, with the annualized figure at roughly $66 billion, The Block reported, citing a report from a research team led by analyst Nikolaos Panigirtzoglou. That is up from the bank’s $52 billion estimate in May, but still only about half of last year’s annualized total. The report said corporate crypto purchases and VC fundraising were the main drivers in the first half, while ETF inflows and a rise in futures positions stood out in the third quarter. It added that participation by retail and institutional investors has expanded, helping build positive momentum for fourth-quarter fund flows. JPMorgan typically estimates crypto market inflows by combining flows into crypto funds, flows in CME futures, crypto venture capital fundraising, and digital asset purchases by listed miners and companies.

The Aptos Foundation has outlined plans to revamp APT tokenomics, including cutting the annual staking reward rate to 2.6% from 5.19%, raising gas fees tenfold, and capping total supply at 2.1 billion APT, according to Wu Blockchain. The foundation also said it plans to permanently lock and stake 210 million APT, equal to about 18% of the current supply, and fund operations through staking rewards rather than token sales. Future ecosystem grants will be determined by whether performance metrics are met, while a buyback program funded by cash reserves and future revenue is also under review. The foundation said the initial four-year token unlock cycle is set to end in October, which is expected to reduce annual token unlock volume by 60%. It added the changes are aimed at lowering token issuance and increasing token burns, and APT could shift to a deflationary structure if the plan proceeds as proposed.

Bitwise CEO Hunter Horsley said BWOW, the Bitwise Dogecoin ETF scheduled to cease operations on Oct. 14 local time, showed a gap between ETF traders and users of crypto trading apps, according to an interview with The Block at Digital Asset Summit 2026 Asia. Horsley said he likes Dogecoin and holds it, adding he sees authenticity in the token itself. But as an ETF, it delivered no meaningful results, he said. Horsley added ETF traders did not want exposure to Dogecoin, although that could change over time. He said Bitwise's job is to identify the opportunities investors want to access and develop useful products around them.

Bitcoin miners have stopped selling, easing pressure on BTC prices, according to CryptoQuant. CryptoQuant said miners have not shown extreme BTC outflows since Aug. 21, citing local time. Bitcoin was trading at around $76,000 that day, while miners’ profitability indicator shifted from "extremely underpaid" to "fairly paid," the report said. CryptoQuant said this suggests one of the most persistent sources of selling that had continuously weighed on Bitcoin prices during the 2026 bear market has diminished, easing the market’s structural sell pressure.
