Finger Labs to leverage Web3 services for Dream Ladders’ college entrance briefing

Finger Labs, a subsidiary of digital marketing company FSN, announced on Tuesday (local time) that it is set to introduce its Web3 services, Xclusive and Favorlet, at an informational college admissions briefing hosted by Dream Ladders, a blockchain subsidiary of educational and career services provider Jinhak.

Xclusive is Finger Labs’ Web3 content distribution hub that uses blockchain technology to connect content creators and consumers, facilitating the distribution of various content like movies and performances and the creation of profitable business models. Favorlet, on the other hand, is an NFT wallet that allows users to view, manage and store their NFTs safely in one place.

 

Innovative ticketing

The upcoming briefing, organized by Dream Ladders’ EDUM project, is set to share insights regarding college entrance exams and applications. Attendees will be able to submit questions in advance and receive exclusive benefits. It is scheduled for Dec. 22 to 23, hosting 50 select individuals each day.

Tickets for the event will be issued and sold as NFTs, which are available for purchase on Xclusive until Dec. 21. Attendees can purchase the tickets and store them in their Favorlet wallets, which will allow them to easily verify their tickets on-site at the briefing. This ticketing process will serve to show users the convenience that Web3 technology offers.

Showcasing Web3 solutions

Finger Labs has previously tailored solutions for major corporations like SK Planet, Lotte Homeshopping and SK Networks. In particular, the company also introduced Xclusive and Favorlet at this year’s Blockchain Grand Week — a large-scale blockchain event hosted by the Ministry of Science and ICT and jointly organized by the National IT Industry Promotion Agency (NIPA), the Korea Internet and Security Agency (KISA) and the Institute of Information and Communications Technology Planning and Evaluation (IITP).

JD.com registers ‘JCOIN’ & ‘JOYCOIN’ ahead of Hong Kong’s Stablecoin Ordinance

JD.com, one of China’s largest business-to-consumer (B2C) online retailers, is understood to have registered “JCOIN” and “JOYCOIN” ahead of Hong Kong’s Stablecoins Ordinance going live on Aug. 1. According to a report published by the Hong Kong Economic Times, in its trademark registration application, JD.com described the services associated with the two brand names as implicating the provision of electronic fund transfers and cryptocurrency-related financial transactions achieved via blockchain technology.Photo by tommao wang on UnsplashHKD-pegged stablecoinThe trademark registrations were filed by JD.com's subsidiary company, JD Coinlink Technology. The company was announced as a participant in the Hong Kong Monetary Authority’s (HKMA) stablecoin issuer sandbox last year. Around that timeframe, it also unveiled plans to launch a stablecoin pegged to the Hong Kong dollar (HKD).  That move was followed by British multinational bank Standard Chartered in February, with it announcing the launch of a HKD-pegged stablecoin in Hong Kong alongside local partners. Standard Chartered and its partners have also been participants in Hong Kong’s stablecoin issuer sandbox. Liu Peng, CEO of JD Coinlink Technology, provided an update in May, outlining that its stablecoin was entering phase two of sandbox testing. He stated that he hopes the project “contributes to payment efficiency not only within JD’s ecosystem but also for businesses and individuals worldwide.” On its website, JD Coinlink Technology describes its “JINGDONG Stablecoin” as a stablecoin backed 1:1 by the Hong Kong dollar, with the goal of meeting regulatory compliance and becoming “one of the leading digital currencies for businesses and individuals seeking for efficient, cost-effective, and secure payment solutions.” In a press briefing in Beijing in June, Peng outlined that the company was making preparations to apply for stablecoin issuer licensing in several markets. The JD Coinlink Technology CEO asserted that stablecoins “can reduce payment costs by 90% and complete transactions within 10 seconds.”  Ant Group, a subsidiary of another Chinese e-commerce giant, Alibaba, has also been following a similar track, preparing to apply for stablecoin licensing in both Hong Kong and Singapore. Push for yuan-pegged stablecoinsBoth Ant Group and JD.com have been lobbying the authorities in China for permission to issue a yuan-pegged stablecoin. Mainland China continues to impose a prohibition on crypto trading and mining, although more recently there have been signs that it may be considering accommodating stablecoins. Behind closed doors, it is understood that JD.com has urged officials at the People’s Bank of China to permit the issuance of offshore yuan-pegged stablecoins as a means to promote use of the yuan internationally and to enable more efficient cross-border trade. Hong Kong is perceived by many commentators as a testing ground for the digital assets sector in China. However, regulators in the Chinese autonomous territory have expressed caution around approving fiat-backed stablecoins tied to foreign currencies, noting that such issuances would require prior “discussions with the relevant authorities.” With Hong Kong’s Stablecoins Ordinance going live on Aug. 1, the HKMA published further guidelines for licensed stablecoin issuers on July 29. The regulator disclosed that it intends to publish a public registry of licensed stablecoin issuers for the benefit of the general public.

Consequently, in March, Animoca revised its target to a more modest $800 million.In-house market makingA report by The Block on Friday revealed that Animoca has been making efforts to pitch an in-house market making service to fledgling Web3 businesses within its portfolio. That service has been presented by the company to more than 400 startup projects in which it has been an investor over recent months.The key market makers in the crypto space include Wintermute, Keyrock, and GSR. This move by Animoca potentially puts Animoca in direct competition with these primary crypto-sector market makers. An in-house digital asset team has been tasked with offering the service. An Animoca spokesperson stated:“Its primary role, much like the treasury teams in many large corporations, is to optimize the utilization of the company’s balance sheet. The team does conduct market-making to ensure there is enough buy/sell liquidity for certain tokens, which is similar to the function that third-party market makers conduct, except that we choose to perform this in-house for scale and efficiency.”Saudi diversificationAs part of its Vision 2030 initiative, Saudi Arabia has been looking to diversify away from its predominantly oil-based economy. In an interview last month, Animoca Brands Founder Yat Siu outlined that the Middle Eastern country is embracing new technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI) and blockchain, encompassing blockchain-based gaming and Web3.In July it emerged that the Saudi Central Bank (SAMA) and the Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) were looking to extend the level of collaboration between the two territories relative to international payments and tokenization.This renewed interest from state-backed funds in Animoca suggests a potential shift in the Web3 venture capital landscape, coinciding with broader indications of a thaw in the crypto winter. The collaboration with NEOM and the injection of $50 million underscore the growing recognition of Web3’s potential, cementing Animoca Brands’ position as a key player in the ever-developing Web3 space.
