An ever-growing business hub

“DMCC has recently risen as a hub for Web3 companies and investors that is actively supported by the Dubai government and the royal family. As the first Korean Web3 company to officially partner with DMCC, we expect that CarrieVerse will grow into a global company here,” said David Yoon, CEO of CarrieVerse.

DMCC is a UAE government agency located in the Jumeirah Lakes Towers district of Dubai and is currently led by Executive Chairman and CEO Ahmed Bin Sulayem. It is home to more than 23,000 companies ranging from startups to large corporations and has been named Global Free Zone of the Year by the Financial Times’ FDI Magazine for nine consecutive years since 2015.

Notably, the zone also has a Crypto Centre for blockchain and crypto businesses, including big names like Binance and Bybit. It has been supporting companies by providing funding, incubation, peer-to-peer matching and opportunities for collaboration.

According to Zaher El Orm, the Crypto Centre Executive at DMCC, the Crypto Centre also supports businesses in their pursuit of crypto licenses for business activities and regulated virtual assets activities. These include blockchain as a service, metaverse service provider, crypto proprietary trading and crypto mining activities. CarrieVerse revealed that it has officially obtained a license as a metaverse service provider.

Promising outlook for CVTX

DMCC is now an official partner of CVTX, the platform’s governance token, which is expected to boost the token’s momentum on global exchanges. It has recently been listed on the Singapore-based digital asset exchange BingX. This will further help the platform secure partnerships with more than 1,000 leading global Web3 companies at DMCC.

CarrieVerse and DMCC stated that they plan to reveal the roadmap of their partnership in the future.

HAQQ Network co-founder points to Indonesia’s crypto hub potential

Mohammed AlKaff AlHashmi, co-founder of the HAQQ Network, has expressed the view that Indonesia has considerable potential to establish itself as Asia’s largest crypto hub. AlHashmi made the comments in a discussion with Crypto.news. HAQQ Network claims to be a scalable proof-of-stake-based blockchain, capable of high throughput. The network is fully compatible and interoperable with Ethereum. The project also focuses on the development of a Sharia-compliant Web3.  While the project is headquartered in Niqa Al Dheeb in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Indonesia is also a significant market for the company, given that it has just received regulatory approval for the HAQQ Network’s native token from the Indonesia Financial Services Authority (OJK). Islamic Coin (ISLM) is the network’s native token. It is being offered as a Sharia compliant digital currency, with Sharia law being the Islamic legal system that governs the lives of millions of Muslims throughout the world.Photo by Nick Agus Arya on UnsplashGateway marketOffering his thoughts on the Indonesian crypto market, AlHashmi stated: “When we look at Indonesia as a market, I would say it is incomparable. It can be number one to be honest. Because I have seen statistics of growth happening in a very big volume. The volume of trade, transactions and users, I think Indonesia can be very soon one of the top 3 countries in the world.” Indonesia takes on added importance for the HAQQ Network project. The project’s co-founder sees the Southeast Asian nation as a gateway into a broader market given that it has the largest Muslim population in the world. He said that if his project is successful in Indonesia, then there will be no barrier to enter markets in other predominately Muslim nations. The entrepreneur believes that Indonesia is on the cusp of realizing its potential within the crypto sector. He said that Indonesia has a “competitive edge” when compared with other nations. Population size and rapid economic growth feed into that potential, with AlHashmi claiming that Indonesia is primed to become the largest crypto hub in Asia. Smooth regulatory processFrom a regulatory perspective, he also feels that Indonesia is outperforming other jurisdictions. The HAQQ Network project team experienced a smooth process in acquiring regulatory approval for ISLM recently. He believes that although the process was detailed, it was completed quicker than he would expect in other countries.  AlHashmi added that “regulations are flexible enough to enable project owners to do good business to protect the community as well.” Local regulator, the OJK, has expressed an interest in exploring the development of Sharia-compliant crypto assets. Earlier this month, Hasan Fawzi, OJK's executive head overseeing crypto assets supervision, told local media that the regulator is open to advancing Sharia-based cryptocurrencies.  Hasan stated: “Globally and regionally, this is a common practice. It is not unusual to create crypto assets that adhere to Sharia principles.” The OJK executive is particularly interested in tokenization of real-world assets (RWAs). He believes that if this proves to be successful, it could lead to further Sharia-complaint crypto products being launched. The OJK is currently testing tokenized RWAs within a sandbox environment.

High-profile sports sponsorships driving Crypto.com user base expansion

Crypto.com, the Singapore-headquartered cryptocurrency exchange platform, has outlined that it has seen significant growth thanks to high-profile sports sponsorship and advertising. Reaping the rewardsThe company has established advertising partnerships with Formula 1 (F1) motor racing and the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). These lucrative sponsorship deals have propelled the exchange into the spotlight of two massive fan bases, contributing to its expansion. In an interview with Cointelegraph last week, Eric Anziani, president and chief operating officer of Crypto.com, discussed the company's successful advertising campaigns with F1 and the UFC, as well as its naming rights deal for the Crypto.com Arena in downtown Los Angeles. In 2021, what was then the Staples Center was renamed to the Crypto.com Arena in a $700 million naming rights deal. Anziani expressed gratitude for these partnerships, emphasizing the importance of staying top of mind for users in the competitive cryptocurrency market.  That same year, the company signed a multi-year partnership deal with leading French football club Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), rolling out various PSG-related marketing activities since then.Photo by Austin Loveing on UnsplashBrand recognition benefitsMarket surveys conducted by Crypto.com indicate a high level of global awareness and brand recognition among retail cryptocurrency users. The exchange's logo prominently displayed during F1 races and UFC events has helped it reach millions of fans worldwide. ESPN reports an average of 1.11 million viewers per race for the 2023 F1 season in the United States alone, with global viewership exceeding one billion over the entire race calendar. Similarly, the UFC boasts a global audience, with some of its biggest fights attracting millions of pay-per-view viewers. Anziani highlighted the effectiveness of these partnerships in bringing people into the cryptocurrency space.  User base approaching 100 millionThese partnerships have significantly contributed to Crypto.com's growing user base, which is approaching 100 million users in 2024, up from an estimated 80 million in the previous year. Anziani discussed the factors that drive users' choice of exchange platforms, emphasizing the importance of compliance, security, convenient access to cryptocurrency and competitive fees. He noted that different users prioritize different aspects based on their trading preferences and requirements. The firm is not alone in pursuing high-profile sports sponsorship deals. Rival platform OKX has an ongoing sponsorship deal in place with Manchester City Football Club in the English Premier League (EPL). It also has doubled down recently on the sponsorship of F1 racing team McLaren. Other notable partnerships include crypto gambling platform Stake.com’s sponsorship of Sauber F1, crypto exchange platform Kraken’s deal with Williams F1 and BingX’s sleeve sponsorship agreement with Chelsea football club in the EPL. High-profile marketing initiatives are alive and well, although in a much more sober way than in 2022 when six crypto companies featured in Super Bowl advertising in the United States. Kraken’s chief marketing officer, Mayur Gupta, recently stated that the Super Bowl is no longer an effective means of promotion for crypto companies.
