Web3 & Enterprise·September 26, 2023, 9:41 AM

Benefits of Coinone Plus

Coinone Plus is divided into three products — Staking, Daily, and ETH 2.0 Staking. Of these, the Daily product distributes daily rewards to individual users who hold a certain cryptocurrency and agree to participate in the service. Unlike the two staking products, it is characterized by the freedom to trade assets and deposit or withdraw them without any of the restrictions imposed by a given network.

The upcoming ETH Daily, which will launch on October 4, rewards Coinone users who hold Ethereum and have completed identity verification. Upon agreeing to the relevant service terms and conditions, users will become eligible for snapshots starting the next day, and rewards will be distributed every day starting from the second day. Existing Daily service participants who hold Ethereum will automatically be counted as participants without any additional steps required.

Unlocking differentiated investment opportunities

“By utilizing Ethereum, which is one of the most popular cryptocurrencies alongside Bitcoin, we decided to launch the ETH Daily product as a means to provide more diverse investment experiences,” explained Coinone CEO Cha Myeong-hoon. “Just by simply holding Ethereum, users can accumulate daily rewards and take part in investments that allow participation in the blockchain ecosystem. We hope our users will take advantage of this opportunity.”

Kyrgyzstani President Embraces Hydro-Powered Crypto Mining

Kyrgyzstani President Embraces Hydro-Powered Crypto MiningIn a move that signals the Republic of Kyrgyzstan’s growing interest in cryptocurrency mining, President Sadyr Japarov has given the green light to establish a crypto mining farm at a hydroelectric power plant within the Central Asian country. The ambitious project, set to be built at the Kambar-Ata-2 hydropower plant, has been allocated a budget of up to $20 million, as reported by Kyrgyzstan’s national news agency, Kabar, on Thursday.Photo by Collab Media on PexelsMore efficient use of powerThe primary motivation behind this endeavor is to address energy losses linked to non-utilized power from the Kambar-Ata-2 plant, which has been operational since 2010. According to President Japarov, approximately 6.8 billion kilowatt-hours (kWh) of energy have been wasted due to this issue. By harnessing the excess energy for cryptocurrency mining, the Kyrgyz government aims to optimize resource usage and bolster the country’s budget.President Japarov emphasized that the profits generated from the mining farm would directly benefit the people, particularly the power engineers who are responsible for the plant’s operations. He asserted that the earnings would be meticulously controlled and allocated, with complete automation and oversight.Energy grid challengesHowever, this recent decision appears to contradict the state of emergency announced by President Japarov in Kyrgyzstan’s energy sector on July 24. The emergency status, which will be in effect from August 1, 2023, until December 31, 2026, is attributed to climate challenges, insufficient water inflow into the Naryn River basin, and a lack of generating capacity due to escalating energy consumption.Despite these apparent contradictions, President Japarov affirmed that crypto mining at the hydro plant would be subject to the highest tariff in Kyrgyzstan, amounting to approximately 5 Kyrgyz soms ($0.057) per kW.As early as March 2022, Kyrgyz lawmaker Karim Khanjeza urged the government to legalize the cryptocurrency industry during a parliamentary committee meeting, citing the rapid expansion of the crypto space. Although Kyrgyzstan introduced some regulations for crypto exchanges in 2021, it has not yet enacted specific laws governing cryptocurrencies. The integration of hydro-powered crypto mining presents both opportunities and challenges for Kyrgyzstan. If executed strategically, the venture could harness underutilized energy to boost the national economy and provide benefits to the people.Learning from KazakhstanThat said, the Central Asian country would do well to pay heed to events that unfolded in neighboring Kazakhstan relative to crypto mining over the course of the last few years. Following a major crackdown on crypto mining activity in China, many miners upped and moved their operations to Kazakhstan. That sudden unplanned and unregulated upsurge destabilized the country’s power grid, forcing the government to crack down on mining. It has since regulated the activity in order to accommodate it without it having a detrimental effect on the energy grid.As developments unfold, Kyrgyzstan’s foray into cryptocurrency mining will undoubtedly be closely monitored by industry observers and stakeholders. President Japarov’s vision to distribute the earnings to ordinary citizens brings an element of promise to the project. Crypto mining can be a positive development for the country, leading to more efficient energy use, so long as the authorities plan accordingly.

Binance Introduces Dedicated Trading Platform in Japan

Binance Introduces Dedicated Trading Platform in JapanGlobal cryptocurrency exchange Binance made an announcement on Friday regarding its plans to establish a new trading platform exclusively for residents of Japan. The move is in compliance with Japanese laws and regulations, and a demonstration of the company coming into line with Japan’s legal and regulatory framework relative to crypto assets and crypto asset trading. While specific details such as the platform’s launch date are yet to be disclosed, Binance has assured its Japanese customers that this information will be provided in the near future.Photo by Bagus Pangestu on PexelsPlatform transitionIn terms of scheduling, we do know that a new know your customer (KYC) verification process will be available after August 1, to migrate to the new local platform for existing Japanese users on the global platform. As part of the transition process, Binance will be sending out information to Japanese residents who currently utilize their global trading platform. This communication will include instructions on procedures including further information on identity verification. To facilitate a smooth transition, Binance’s global trading platform will cease providing services to Japanese residents on November 30, 2023. Additionally, there are plans to change the company name from Sakura Exchange Bitcoin to “Binance Japan Co., Ltd.”This development marks Binance’s initial foray into the Japanese market firmly under its own brand. In November 2022, the company entered the country by acquiring Sakura Exchange Bitcoin (SEBC). The forthcoming trading platform, dedicated exclusively to domestic residents, represents the first step in Binance’s strategic approach to the Japanese market. The new services on the platform are set to launch during the summer, with future expansion plans to broaden that offering further. Binance also intends to introduce initiatives in Japan that leverage its ecosystem, including the provision of free educational resources through “Binance Academy” to promote Web3 education.Service offeringThe newly created entity will offer crypto spot trading with fiat deposit and withdrawal facility to its Japanese customers. Crypto lending products will be provided through a digital asset earn program. For those who like to dollar cost average (DCA), an automated recurring purchase feature will be provided. In 2021, Binance introduced an NFT marketplace and that will be a service that it will also extend to its Japanese customers. Upon launch of the dedicated service, crypto derivative trading will not be offered although it is understood that it may be offered at a later stage. Derivatives are likely to be under much closer scrutiny by the Japanese regulator than Binance’s other products. It is worth noting that Binance had previously received a warning from the Financial Services Agency (FSA) for offering cryptocurrency trading services to Japanese residents without proper registration. With its full-fledged entry into the Japanese market, it remains to be seen what impact this move will have. Will it accelerate the regulatory landscape and the adoption of Web3 technology in Japan from a global perspective?Additionally, how smoothly will Binance be able to acquire new accounts while competing with domestic business operators? These developments warrant close attention as they unfold.
