LINE NEXT, an American-based NFT platform subsidiary of Tokyo-headquartered messaging app developer Line Corporation, has launched the beta version of DOSI Land, the FINSCHIA token (FNSA) reward program on its global non-fungible token (NFT) platform, DOSI. This program aims to provide opportunities for its membership owners, known as DOSI Citizens, to win FNSA.

Weekly token rewards

DOSI Land is a weekly program that rewards FNSA to lottery winners. However, only DOSI Citizens with Level 2 or above are eligible to participate in this event. DOSI Citizens are categorized into four levels, ranging from Level 1 to Level 4. Users can achieve attendance goals, invite friends, and make NFT transactions to elevate their Citizen status. It’s important to note that this program is not available in some countries, including the United States and Japan.

DOSI Land comprises three lands: Emerald Orbit, Sapphire Starlight, and Golden Galaxy. Each land is accessible to Citizen Level 2, Level 3, and Level 4 users, respectively. Every week, a total of 3,000 FNSA will be distributed, with each land offering different chances of winning the token. Furthermore, each land has three zones, and users can participate in one zone per land. Participation in each zone requires DON, a membership point earned based on the total NFT transaction amount, and Level-up Passes, which are needed to improve Citizen status.

DOSI operates the DOSI Citizen Membership system, which rewards users based on their contributions to the ecosystem. Alongside DOSI Land, DOSI has also implemented other reward programs such as DOSI Adventure and DOSI Arcade, offering a variety of NFTs to membership owners.

As part of its efforts to expand the DOSI ecosystem, LINE NEXT incentivizes FNSA rewards to users actively engaging in DOSI through DOSI Land. The company plans to continue offering various benefits to DOSI users.

DOSI’s presence

Since its beta launch, DOSI has attracted 4.6 million membership owners, facilitating over 410,000 transactions and involving 190,000 traders. These figures are as of May 2023. LINE NEXT cites NFT data analysis platform NFT Go’s statistics to state that DOSI is Asia’s largest and the world’s third largest platform in terms of monthly NFT traders. With its mission to establish a global ecosystem for NFTs and Web3, LINE NEXT aims to foster a thriving NFT platform business.

The Finschia Foundation

In March of this year, the Finschia Foundation was established in Abu Dhabi, UAE, by Line Tech Plus, a Singaporean-based subsidiary of Line Corporation. This establishment was an effort to expand the corporation’s global Web3 endeavors. Line Corporation is a subsidiary of Z Holdings, jointly owned by South Korea’s Internet search engine provider Naver and Japanese technology investor Softbank Group.

The Finschia Foundation operates Line’s open blockchain mainnet Finschia and rebranded its native crypto asset LINK (LN) to FINSCHIA (FNSA) last month. FNSA is currently listed on crypto exchanges Bithumb, Bittrex, and Huobi, according to CoinMarketCap.

Banking giants in Turkey embrace crypto ahead of legislative change

Banking giants in Turkey embrace crypto ahead of legislative changeIt remains unclear what the underlying environment for the further development of the crypto sector in Turkey will be until such time as the country introduces a legislative framework to shape the industry’s development. However, that fact is not deterring a couple of Turkey’s leading banks, who have decided to embrace the digital asset realm.Photo by Michael Jerrard on UnsplashStablex acquisitionOn Monday CoinDesk Turkiye reported that the investment arm of Turkish bank Akbank had acquired local crypto company Stablex. Stablex was founded in May 2020 by Jihad Shannak with the objective of providing professional services, including trading relative to cryptocurrencies in Turkey. Majority shareholding passed to Ak Investment in May of this year, with initial negotiations on the sale having commenced in August 2022.A high-ranking official at Ak Investment expressed the group’s ambition to become a pivotal figure in the digital asset realm, signaling a proactive approach to the evolving financial landscape. Akbank also banks the majority of crypto start-ups based in Turkey.Speaking about the acquisition recently, Akbank executive Mert Erdoğmuş stated:“We have invested in Stablex to respond to the need for reliable and innovative service in the cryptocurrency market. Stablex reflects our values with its experience in the sector, pioneering achievements and professional service approach.”BBVA crypto walletAlongside Akbank’s move into the digital assets arena, Garanti BBVA, Turkey’s second largest private bank, recently unveiled its crypto wallet app. The feature-rich application includes a cold wallet, empowering users to seamlessly send and receive assets such as bitcoin (BTC), USD Coin (USDC) and ether (ETH).The pilot project for the app commenced in August, with the application currently available on iOS. In bringing the app to market, the bank created Garanti BBVA Digital Assets, a dedicated subsidiary firm. Commenting on that development back in August, the subsidiary’s Chairman of the Board, M. Çağrı Süzer, stated:”Our research shows that customers significantly value trust in their crypto transactions and especially on its storage. Hence, we are happy to launch our Crypto Custody Wallet addressing these real needs.”Despite uncertainties, Turkey has firmly established itself in the global crypto landscape, ranking among the top 20 countries in Chainalysis’ Global Crypto Adoption Index 2023. The instability of the Turkish lira in recent years has been a driver for crypto adoption in the country. In recent days, the bitcoin unit price has reached its highest exchange rate level against the local sovereign currency.Earlier this week, it emerged that crypto platform Blockchain.com is adding headcount and has its sights set on expansion into Turkey as one of its growth opportunities.FATF-compliant regulatory approachTurkey’s regulatory stance has been to take a cautious approach. In 2021, the central bank restricted the use of crypto for payments, although a complete ban on digital assets was ruled out by officials.Looking ahead, a government official revealed plans for crypto legislation to be presented to Parliament in November. While details remain scarce, this legislative move aligns with Turkey’s broader strategy to exit the Financial Action Task Force’s (FATF) “gray list.”

Korea requires lawmakers and senior officials to declare crypto holdings

Korea requires lawmakers and senior officials to declare crypto holdingsSouth Korea’s Ministry of Government Legislation announced on Thursday (local time) that 84 new legislative statutes are set to be implemented in December. Among these statutes, an amendment to the Public Service Ethics Act stands out, which will require lawmakers and senior government officials to report their virtual asset holdings.Photo by Huy Phan on UnsplashStarting Dec 14The Public Service Ethics Act requires public officials in political service, government officials of rank four or higher and executives of public service-related organizations to declare their own wealth as well as that of their spouses and lineal relatives. In Korea, public servants are ranked from one to nine, with one being the highest and nine being the lowest. As it stands, disclosing cryptocurrency holdings isn’t mandated, but this will change from Dec. 14 due to recent amendments. Records of cryptocurrency transactions will also be subject to disclosure.Possible restrictions on departments or employeesFurthermore, the leader of a national or local government organization has the authority to enforce restrictions on the acquisition of virtual assets for specific departments or employees under their jurisdiction. This action is applicable if their roles are associated with accessing cryptocurrency information or having an impact on the crypto market. In such scenarios, the chief officer is obligated to report their methods of imposing these restrictions to the pertinent government ethics committee. The committee then holds the right to recommend adjustments to these strategies.

Metaplanet continues Bitcoin investment despite market fluctuations

Metaplanet, a Japanese investment and consulting firm, has recently announced the acquisition of an additional 42.466 Bitcoins, valued at 400 million Japanese yen ($2.5 million). This purchase increases their total Bitcoin holdings to 203.734 BTC, which were acquired at an average price of approximately 10 million yen ($62,000) per coin—about 7% above the current market price. This move reinforces Metaplanet’s strategy to integrate Bitcoin as a central component of its treasury assets. Market impact and future plansDubbed "Asia’s MicroStrategy" for its aggressive cryptocurrency investment strategy, Metaplanet has seen significant market momentum since its initial Bitcoin purchase in April 2024. The firm's stock surged by 90% the day following its initial announcement. However, following a recent downturn in Bitcoin prices, Metaplanet’s stock experienced a 25% decline from its peak in June. Despite this, the stock price remains 344% higher than at the start of 2024. In response to the volatile market, Metaplanet has announced plans to issue 1 billion yen ($6.26 million) in bonds to fund further Bitcoin acquisitions, signaling continued confidence in the long-term value of Bitcoin as part of its investment strategy.
