Games of different genres and platforms

Sevenline Labs is currently operating a Web3-powered esports tournament platform called Miracle Play. Leveraging application programming interfaces (APIs), the platform offers games of different platforms of genres on blockchain networks. It enables mobile, desktop, console and Web3 gamers to engage in diverse tournaments and earn rewards from competitions.

Sevenline’s inaugural service, operating on the Polygon Network, has successfully completed a closed beta test specifically targeted at Indonesian communities. Currently, the company is in the process of conducting an open beta test. Looking ahead, Sevenline is planning to extend its support to various chains compatible with Ethereum virtual machines (EVMs). This expansion includes notable blockchain platforms such as Avalanche, Binance Smart Chain, Oasys, Solana and Klaytn. The ultimate objective of Sevenline is to orchestrate large-scale tournaments between different mainnets, with each of them representing a distinct faction.

Through the collaboration between NEOPIN and Sevenline Labs, NEOPIN’s global partners will introduce their Web3 games to the Miracle Play platform. This move allows users to voluntarily host and participate in various tournaments, thereby enhancing the visibility and popularity of these games. Concurrently, Web3 gaming companies that have formed partnerships with Sevenline will be incorporated into the NEOPIN ecosystem.

Native tokens to be supported

The integration of the NEOPIN wallet with Miracle Play is a strategic move that aims to attract a global user base, particularly those who have completed Know Your Customer (KYC) and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) checks. This strategy presents a win-win scenario for both NEOPIN and Miracle Play. NEOPIN benefits by gaining access to a dedicated community of Web3 gamers who will actively organize and partake in tournaments on the Miracle Play platform. In return, Miracle Play taps into the decentralized finance (DeFi) user base associated with NEOPIN. Furthermore, both platforms plan to support their native tokens — the NEOPIN (NPT) token and the Miracle Play (MPT) token in the future.

Ethan Kim, CEO of NEOPIN, expressed that the partnership will be beneficial in three aspects: attracting Web3 gaming partners, acquiring mutual users and expediting the adoption of the Web3 gaming ecosystem. He emphasized NEOPIN’s commitment to accelerating the global expansion of the NEOPIN ecosystem through these strategic efforts in promoting the Web3 gaming sector.

$100M funding sees HashKey unlock unicorn status

HashKey Group, the operator of one of Hong Kong's two licensed crypto exchanges, declared its newfound unicorn status on Tuesday, having successfully raised nearly $100 million in a recent funding round.Photo by Markus Winkler on UnsplashSeries A funding roundThe term "unicorn" denotes privately held companies valued at $1 billion or more, reflecting the remarkable achievement for HashKey in the rapidly evolving crypto landscape. With a valuation now surpassing $1.2 billion, HashKey positions itself as a major player in the crypto space within East and Southeast Asia. It’s leveraging its activities that span trading platforms, venture funding, wealth management and asset management in key locations like Hong Kong and Singapore. Its Singapore arm was awarded a capital markets license by the local regulator in December. Undisclosed investorsThe fundraising initiative was first reported in May of last year and later announced by HashKey in August. It attracted contributions from both existing and new investors. While the company refrained from divulging specific investor names, it referred to them as "prominent institutional investors" and "leading Web3 institutions," signaling a mix of established entities and those already at the forefront of Web3 innovation. It was previously disclosed that the company has been backed by the support of OKX Ventures, the investment arm of the well-known OKX digital asset exchange. The funds secured will serve a dual purpose – fostering the development of a robust Web3 ecosystem and supporting licensed products in Hong Kong. HashKey's diverse business arms, including asset management, a blockchain node validation service, a tokenization service, and a Web3 incubation arm, are set to benefit from the fresh capital infusion. The allocation of funds towards these ventures aligns with HashKey's strategic vision to contribute significantly to the evolving crypto ecosystem. Hong Kong hubHong Kong, eager to establish itself as a digital asset hub, has been the backdrop for HashKey's growth. The city's dedicated virtual-asset regulatory framework, introduced in June, aims to attract companies while prioritizing investor protection. Under this framework, retail investors can trade major tokens such as Bitcoin and Ether on licensed exchanges, with HashKey Exchange and BC Technology Group Ltd.’s OSL currently leading the way. Despite the optimism surrounding Hong Kong's potential as a crypto hub, uncertainties linger. The city's ability to support multiple crypto exchanges and the long-term commitment of officials to the sector remain open questions, given its susceptibility to occasional scandals. Since commencing its retail trading service in late August, HashKey Exchange has garnered over 155,000 registered users. The platform's 24-hour spot trading volume is estimated at approximately $11 million, according to CoinMarketCap data as of this writing. While this figure may pale in comparison to Binance, the world's largest crypto platform, HashKey's focus on building a resilient and user-friendly ecosystem positions it as a strong contender in the crypto industry's ongoing evolution. The successful funding round and unicorn status attained by HashKey underscore the renewed optimism in the crypto venture capital landscape. Following a market slump in 2022 and various challenges faced by crypto startups, the recent resurgence in token prices has reignited hopes for a more favorable venture capital outlook.

OSL set to acquire Indonesia’s Evergreen Crest

OSL Group, a publicly-listed digital asset and blockchain platform company headquartered in Hong Kong, is set to acquire Indonesia’s Evergreen Crest Holdings.Photo by Kelly Sikkema on UnsplashAs the proposed acquisition of Evergreen Crest, a business that includes a virtual assets exchange platform, will involve a share transaction, OSL filed details of the acquisition with the Hong Kong Stock Exchange on June 2. OSL will take a 90% stake in Evergreen Crest in return for $15 million worth of consideration shares, which will be issued by OSL to the seller. This share issuance will account for 1.48% of the total issued shares in the company. Once the acquisition goes through, Evergreen Crest will become a subsidiary of OSL Group, with Evergreen’s financial results consolidated into the overall financial statements of OSL going forward.  ‘Strategic benefits’The filing suggests that OSL management believe that the acquisition “will bring substantial strategic benefits to the Group,” as it opens up access for the company to the Indonesian digital asset market. The company is optimistic about the outlook for the Indonesian crypto market. It stated: “Indonesia possesses key attributes conducive to growth in this sector, including a substantial and youthful demographic, robust economic growth fundamentals, and a rapidly increasing rate of cryptocurrency adoption.” Acquiring licensesOne interesting aspect of the acquisition is that Evergreen Crest has acquired the requisite licensing to operate within the Indonesian market. Those cryptocurrency and futures trading licenses are likely to be of significant value to OSL as it means that through the acquisition, OSL can now enter the Indonesian market in a fully compliant manner. Using the existing compliant platform, OSL intends to expand the range of services offered within the Indonesian market. It indicated that it would do so in respect of payment finance (PayFi) and tokenized real-world asset (RWA)-related products and services, subject to acquiring the necessary licensing. OSL is encouraged by the opportunity that exists within Indonesia as far as tokenized RWAs are concerned. It claimed that the country has already demonstrated significant tokenized RWA-related activity. PT Multikripto Exchange Indonesia (also known as Koinsayang), the exchange business owned by Evergreen Crest, was awarded a virtual asset trading license by the Indonesian regulator, the Financial Services Authority (OJK), in March. At the time, the exchange outlined that it intended to expand its service reach, while creating a better trading experience for users located within Indonesia and overseas. In September 2024, the exchange was awarded a license to offer crypto asset perpetual futures contracts by Indonesia’s Commodity Futures Trading Supervisory Agency (Bappebti).  OSL expanding its reachOSL appears to be making a concerted effort to expand beyond its Hong Kong base. In February it acquired CoinBest, a Japanese crypto exchange, rebranding the business as OSL Japan. At the time it was reported that the company was also looking at opportunities to expand in European markets. OSL was amongst the first digital asset exchange platforms to be licensed in Hong Kong, receiving Type 1 and Type 7 licenses from the Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) in December 2020.
