EMERGE Group, a leading Southeast Asian marketing technology firm specializing in intellectual property (IP) and gaming partnerships, has forged a strategic alliance with TZ APAC in an effort to drive Web3 gaming relative to the Tezos layer one blockchain.

Singapore-based TZ APAC is a Web3 ecosystem builder dedicated to advancing the Web3 ecosystem on the Tezos blockchain by empowering founders, creators and developers. Positioning Tezos as preferred gaming blockchain

News of the partnership was publicized recently within "The Baking Sheet," a bulletin published by an independent not-for-profit entity, Tezos Commons. The primary focus of this partnership is to offer marketing solutions and publishing partnership support. EMERGE Group, known for its expertise and influential network, including partnerships with Moonton, Singtel and Shopback, aims to position Tezos as the preferred blockchain platform for the gaming community. Leveraging advertising inventories and critical IPs, EMERGE Group intends to facilitate the seamless onboarding of game studios onto the Tezos blockchain.

Tezos, renowned for its open-source blockchain emphasizing upgradability, participation and smart contract safety, joins forces with EMERGE Group, which has previously established strategic alliances with industry leaders like Nvir World and Infinite Loop Media. This partnership is seeking to make an impact within the gaming industry, harnessing the potential of blockchain technology.

Jason Lim, responsible for business development (gaming) at TZ APAC, commented on the partnership:

“With this collaboration, TZ APAC can now rely on a partner that shares the same goal — to empower the gaming community with the relevant tools, resources, and network to succeed. Builders, gamers, and ecosystem partners can stand to benefit from the marriage of full-suite support provided by TZ APAC and the marketing prowess of EMERGE Group.”

EMERGE Group co-founder and CEO Roy Kek was similarly enthused, stating that the partnership reflected the firm’s expertise in the Web3 gaming space.

Bridging Web2 to Web3

The collaborative effort is designed to create a bridge between Web2 and Web3 technologies, enhancing the overall gaming experience. By fostering a supportive environment for game developers and capitalizing on Tezos' blockchain capabilities, the partnership aims to deliver a frictionless onboarding experience.

The collaboration between EMERGE Group and TZ APAC signifies a proactive move towards the integration of gaming into the Web3 ecosystem on Tezos. In the past, gaming giant Ubisoft has leaned on Tezos in providing in-game items for some of its gaming titles. The project has partnered with Google Cloud in an effort to enable Google Cloud customers to build Web3 applications on the blockchain.

It’s still early days for Web3 gaming and with that, this partnership is seeking to advance gaming development on Tezos.

Stables Money partners with Coins.ph to use PHPC for cross-border remittances

Stables Money, an Australian platform that claims to be on a mission “to make stablecoins usable for everyday use,” has partnered with Philippines-based digital assets platform Coins.ph to use the latter’s peso-pegged stablecoin (PHPC) for remittances. Peso-denominated stablecoinIn a press release published to the Coins.ph website on Aug. 28, the firm laid out details of the deal. PHPC is a retail stablecoin which is backed by Philippine peso-denominated cash reserves and pegged to the peso on a 1:1 basis. The stablecoin was launched by Coins.ph in July.  It’s an ERC-20 token which runs on the Ethereum virtual machine (EVM)-compatible Ronin blockchain network. The stablecoin was accepted into the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas’ regulatory sandbox in May.Photo by Aeron Oracion on Unsplash$35 billion in remittancesThe Philippines has always been seen as a lucrative remittance market due to the high number of Filipinos who work outside of the country, sending funds home to family on a regular basis. In 2020, remittances back to the Philippines from overseas were just shy of $35 billion, according to data from the World Bank. It appears that Australia’s Stables Money has identified this opportunity, with the company entering the Philippine market back in March. The Philippine peso already accounts for over 25% of all outward transactions sent via the platform. Stables Money CEO Bernardo Bilotta spoke to the opportunity that the company is trying to exploit. He stated: "Recognizing the Philippines as a key player in global remittances, we expanded to deliver smooth PHP transactions. With 28.44% of our send transactions now in PHP, this move highlights our commitment to making cross-border payments hassle-free for those sending money to the Philippines.” Coins.ph has the intention of engaging in further industry partnerships in an effort to expand the reach of PHPC. That will mean additional collaborations with crypto exchanges, digital asset wallet providers and those financial institutions who are increasingly delving into the world of stablecoins. Commenting on this latest development, Wei Zhou, Coins.ph CEO, stated:”We’re encouraged to see growing adoption of PHPC among our user base. Our partnerships with Stables and Ronin underscore the vast potential of PHPC in cross-border transactions, trading and other financial activities.” Stables has also made efforts to expand through the use of Circle’s USDC stablecoin. Last month, it partnered with global payments card platform Mastercard in a collaboration which facilitates Stables users in purchasing goods using USDC at locations across 27 European countries where Mastercard is accepted. The firm’s partnership with Mastercard dates back to March 2023 when it entered into a similar collaboration relative to the Asia-Pacific region. Previous peso-based stablecoin projectsCoins.ph is not the first entity to try and drive adoption of a Philippine peso-based stablecoin. The Southeast Asian country’s UnionBank launched a similar product back in 2019. However, the product failed to find product-market fit and ultimately, it was withdrawn from the market. The company tried once again in 2022, attempting to launch a similar product through its digital bank subsidiary UnionDigital, in an effort that seems to have failed. More recently still, UnionBank subsidiary company UBX launched a peso-based stablecoin on Polygon back in March.

Vietnam $3.8B gambling case in a world of rising crypto crime

Vietnamese authorities have dismantled a criminal ring that used cryptocurrency to launder illicit gambling profits, AFP reported, citing local media. The group converted local currency into digital assets such as USDT and Ethereum, routing funds to users for online betting. Operating multi-layered investment websites, the network grew to as many as 20,000 users and managed 25 million accounts, despite Vietnam’s ban on cryptocurrency. In total, the transactions involved were valued at roughly $3.8 billion. Police allege that millions of dollars were funneled into real estate, luxury cars, and cross-border cash transfers. While the money laundering probe continues, the gambling case has already produced convictions. Four Vietnamese siblings who ran the network, along with 39 other defendants, received sentences in Ho Chi Minh City ranging from a three-year suspended term to 13 years in prison. An Indian national identified as the alleged mastermind remains at large.Photo by Amanda Jones on UnsplashThai police foil crypto-themed fraudElsewhere in the region, police in neighboring Thailand busted a South Korean crime syndicate based in Pattaya that allegedly stole more than 20 billion won ($14.2 million) through fraud schemes that invoked cryptocurrency as a lure, along with other scams, the Chosun Ilbo reported. The scam ring reportedly obtained customer data from a lottery tip site and collected money from victims either by posing as agents offering membership refunds or by claiming to provide compensation for leaked personal information, which they disguised as opportunities to buy digital assets. In addition to these schemes, the syndicate ran romance scams and posed as authorities. Thai police arrested 20 members in a June resort raid. Nine more suspects, including ringleaders, remain in custody awaiting extradition. Seoul police said that, in total, 25 members have been caught, 21 of whom are now detained. Authorities believe the network may be linked to other groups in Thailand and are widening the investigation. Europe uncovers $120M crypto fraudCrypto crimes aren’t limited to Asia. In Europe, police arrested five suspects in a Eurojust-led operation that uncovered an online investment scam worth at least €100 million ($116.8 million). Operating since 2018 across 23 countries, the scheme lured victims with platforms promising high returns, then funneled deposits through Lithuanian accounts before disappearing. In a report by the Organized Crime and Corruption Reporting Project, Elliptic Chief Scientist Tom Robinson said such schemes often have little to do with cryptocurrency itself, instead exploiting its technical obscurity and the allure of quick gains. Beyond scams, outright theft from crypto platforms is also climbing. A Chainalysis study found that by the end of June 2025, more than $2.17 billion had been stolen from exchanges and related platforms—already surpassing the total for all of 2024. The firm projects losses could reach $4 billion by year-end. The single largest incident was the February hack of the Bybit exchange, in which thieves took $1.5 billion, roughly 69% of all funds stolen in the first half of this year. Crypto crime turns increasingly violentThe Chainalysis report also flagged a rise in physical attacks, in which criminals use violence or coercion to force individuals to hand over their crypto holdings. The firm warned that 2025 may log nearly twice as many cases as the worst year on record, noting that the attacks often rise and fall with expectations for Bitcoin’s price. In response to these threats, Chainalysis stressed the need for a multilayered approach to crypto security. It advised service providers to strengthen internal controls through regular audits and employee screening, while upgrading wallet infrastructure and other technical defenses. For individuals, the firm said, keeping holdings discreet has become as critical as technical safeguards, especially amid the rise in physical attacks.
