Paving the way for an innovative future

TIPS is a private investment-led technology entrepreneurship program organized by the Korea Business Angels Association and Korea Institute of Startup and Entrepreneurship Development (KISED) — two affiliated institutions under the Ministry of SMEs and Startups — to foster startups that possess innovative technology.

The program appoints and designates venture founders to serve as angel investors and leaders of technological enterprises as a given startup’s incubator and/or accelerator. Throughout the two-year duration of the program, the startups can take advantage of angel investor networking and mentoring and receive KRW 500 million (approximately $370,000) in research and development (R&D) funding from the government. They can also receive an additional KRW 200 million in commercialization funds.

Infinite Block, which specializes in custody services tailored to corporate-owned virtual assets, was selected for TIPS by attracting investment from the fintech innovation fund operated by venture company Infobank. This is part of a series of strategic investments that it secured within just six months of its establishment, including those from leading domestic financial institutions like banks and securities companies.

Pioneering fintech development

The company has consistently been boosting efforts to expand into a prominent fintech platform, starting by receiving approval from Korea’s Financial Services Commission (FSC) to become a virtual asset service provider (VASP) and later on obtaining ISO 27001 certification for the information security management system of its blockchain platform. More recently, it launched a custody-based Ethereum staking service for corporate clients.

“We will strive to provide trustworthy digital asset infrastructure by implementing a fintech platform that not only offers innovation through blockchain and cyber security technology but also meets regulatory requirements assigned by financial authorities,” Jeong stated.

Gate.io Shrugs Off Withdrawal Concerns Amid Multichain Crisis

Gate.io Shrugs Off Withdrawal Concerns Amid Multichain CrisisGate.io, a prominent cryptocurrency exchange, has refuted rumors circulating within the crypto community about withdrawal issues on its platform. On Wednesday, the exchange reassured users that its operations remain unaffected by recent events.Photo by Keller Chewning on UnsplashGate.io confirms smooth operationsGate.io is one of the oldest Chinese Bitcoin exchanges. It moved its corporate headquarters to the Cayman Islands once the Chinese authorities took a hardline stance on cryptocurrencies a few years ago. It also maintains offices in Seoul, South Korea, and is currently preparing to launch a bespoke Hong Kong-based platform.According to the exchange, withdrawals are functioning properly, and the overall operations of the exchange are healthy. It explicitly stated, “There are no issues with our operations or withdrawals as rumored.”Multichain concernsSpeculation emerged on social media on May 24 when Arkham Intelligence reported that members of the separate blockchain project Multichain had transferred $3 million worth of the $MULTI token to Gate.io. Arkham also mentioned other transactions involving Multichain-related tokens, some of which were subsequently suspended for deposit on the leading exchange, Binance. While Arkham did not directly suggest any risks to Gate.io itself, the combination of market activity and other events led to rumors. ‘Coinsumption,’ a Twitter account with nearly 31,000 followers, suggested on May 31 that Gate.io might be facing insolvency problems and advised users to withdraw their funds from the exchange. The ongoing issues with Multichain may well be unrelated to Gate.io. Multichain’s team members recently stated that they are unable to contact their CEO or access project servers. The project has experienced transaction delays over the past few days.Native token price impactGate.io’s native token ($GT) has reportedly been affected by these rumors, as its value has declined by 6.59% over the past 24 hours. In contrast, Bitcoin has only experienced a 1.4% decrease. The $GT token losses can be attributed, in part, to a period of several hours during which the token’s price dropped from $4.92 to $4.49. In isolation, this change represents an 8.7% loss, although there have been partial recoveries and other fluctuations to offset the decline. At the time of publication, the $GT token unit price stood at $4.36.Despite the recent challenges, Gate.io continues to demonstrate significant trading volume. On the most recent day, the exchange recorded approximately $525 million in trading volume, solidifying its position as one of the largest centralized exchanges with sub-billion daily trading volumes. The almost ten-year-old exchange is among several cryptocurrency exchanges preparing to comply with upcoming regulations in Hong Kong. It aims to operate alongside other platforms, such as CoinEx, OKX, Huobi, and BitMEX, as they adapt to the regulatory framework being implemented in the region.Gate.io has dispelled rumors of withdrawal issues, assuring users that its operations are functioning normally. Notwithstanding that, as with everything in the crypto space, the facts and circumstances can change in an instant. Therefore, it’s a topic that is worthwhile watching as further news emerges relative to ongoing issues on the Multichain project.

Yunfeng Financial buys 10K ETH as Hong Kong firms deepen push into digital assets

Yunfeng Financial Group has purchased 10,000 Ethereum (ETH) on the open market for $44 million, the Hong Kong–listed fintech said in a Sept. 2 statement. The company described the move as part of a broader plan to increase exposure to digital assets, joining firms such as Bitmine Immersion Technologies and SharpLink Gaming that have incorporated ETH into corporate treasuries.Photo by DrawKit Illustrations on UnsplashETH backs RWA strategy, inflation hedgeThe acquisition follows Yunfeng’s July outline to expand into Web3, real-world asset (RWA) tokenization, artificial intelligence, and ESG-linked assets aimed at net-zero goals. Yunfeng said ETH could support its Web3 and RWA businesses, help optimize assets, and provide a hedge against traditional currencies. It is also exploring ways to incorporate ETH into insurance products. The RWA market has grown in recent months, with on-chain RWAs totaling $28.19 billion at the time of publication, up 7.37% from a month earlier, according to data from RWA.xyz. Yunfeng noted it may adjust the size of its ETH reserves in line with market conditions, regulation, and its financial position. The company said the purchase falls below Hong Kong Stock Exchange disclosure thresholds: all five percentage ratios—assets, profits, revenue, consideration, and equity capital—remain under 5%. It stated it will meet disclosure requirements if future transactions push holdings beyond the relevant limits. Institutions drive ETH momentumThe announcement comes amid heightened interest in ETH. CryptoRank data show a 30% year-to-date price increase, and Tom Lee, Fundstrat’s head of research and chair of BitMine, has forecast a near-term range of $4,000 to $5,450. He argued that Ethereum is well placed to serve institutional use cases, pointing to its role in hosting more than half of the roughly $250 billion stablecoin supply and its prominence in asset tokenization. Hong Kong continues to position itself as a regional hub for blockchain and digital assets despite Mainland China’s 2021 ban on crypto trading. In a separate development, Fosun Wealth Holdings launched tokenized shares of Sisram Medical, an Israeli med-tech company listed in Hong Kong. The tokens, representing about $328 million in market value, were deployed across Vaulta, Solana (SOL), Ethereum, and Sonic. Fosun said it plans to tokenize additional corporate bonds and shares, without naming issuers or setting a timeline. Other local companies have also disclosed crypto exposure. Linekong Interactive Group reported holdings of 92.07 BTC, 943.63 ETH, and 6,091.7 SOL as of June 30 after purchases in the first half of the year, with cumulative unrealized gains of roughly $7.5 million. Linekong said it views crypto as a long-term investment and may increase its holdings pending board and shareholder approval.
