Kenyan police arrest main suspect in $431K fake gold scam

Kenya's Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) announced it has arrested Mildred Kache in Nairobi, the alleged mastermind of a fake gold scam involving 431,380 USDT. According to BeInCrypto, the suspects offered a 400kg gold deal to a U.S. investor, persuading the individual to sign a contract and transfer the funds. The gold was never delivered. The DCI stated that an accomplice, Ibrahim Yusuf Mohamed, has fled, and a Mercedes-Benz left at the scene has been impounded. Authorities added that they are now tracing the stolen funds and exploring the possibility of freezing the USDT on-chain.
