Adam Back: Bitcoin was a community effort, not Satoshi's solo work

Adam Back, a cryptographer and the CEO of Bitcoin infrastructure developer Blockstream, stated that Bitcoin (BTC) is not the sole creation of Satoshi Nakamoto but rather the collective research achievement of the cypherpunk community. He noted that the concept of a Proof-of-Work (PoW) based digital currency had been discussed before the Bitcoin whitepaper was published. Back explained that Satoshi implemented a working protocol by combining ideas from figures like Hal Finney and Nick Szabo, as well as his own Hashcash system developed in 1997. According to Back, Satoshi's greatest achievement was solving the double-spending problem and integrating these previously scattered ideas into a single network. Addressing recent attempts to uncover Nakamoto's identity, Back also reiterated his denial of claims that he is Satoshi and warned that excessive efforts to track the identities of industry figures could create security risks.
