Brazil’s major banks are expanding cryptocurrency services for retail clients in step with the country’s evolving regulatory framework, Decrypt reported. Itaú, Brazil’s largest bank, supports trading in 15 cryptocurrencies including BTC, ETH and USDC through its investment app, while fintech firm Nubank offers 28 tokens. Banco do Brasil, which launched BTC and ETH trading services in January, has processed more than 11 million reais ($2.1 million) in transactions so far. Brazil’s crypto trading volume reached 505.5 billion reais ($98.7 billion) in 2025, up more than fivefold from 2020. However, local banks do not appear to hold crypto as proprietary assets, according to data from Brazil’s central bank.
