Nasdaq targets Q2 2027 launch of tokenized shares with shareholder rights

Nasdaq is pursuing a second-quarter 2027 launch of tokenized shares that preserve full shareholder rights under the name Nasdaq Equity Token, or NET, Crypto Briefing reported.
NET is designed as a blockchain-based version of Nasdaq-listed shares and would offer the same voting and legal rights as conventional stocks. Unlike some existing tokenized stocks that function as synthetic assets tracking only share prices, issuing companies would retain control over shareholder registries and corporate governance. To support the effort, Nasdaq Ventures invested $100 million in Payward, the parent company of crypto exchange Kraken, and Payward’s xStocks platform is expected to serve as core infrastructure for NET distribution. NET also plans to support 24-hour trading and on-chain settlement.
