Bitcoin’s recent price pullback was driven by weak spot demand and a decline in futures open interest, according to CryptoQuant contributor MAC_D. Bitcoin’s apparent demand remained in negative territory, while the Coinbase Premium Index was also mostly negative, indicating U.S. investor buying pressure remains weak. MAC_D added that although Bitcoin has held at a similar price level since Sept. 22, open interest fell nearly 10% to about $26 billion from roughly $28.8 billion. Still, MAC_D said the current correction could present a medium- to long-term buying opportunity as long as the current upcycle remains intact. The area around $69,000, where short-term holders’ average cost basis sits, is likely to act as a key support level, MAC_D said.

South Korea’s Financial Services Commission will examine whether financial institutions were involved in the KOK coin case, its chairman Lee Eog-weon said during a parliamentary audit on Oct. 8, according to Edaily. Lee said the case is under investigation by judicial authorities and that trial proceedings are underway at the Ulsan District Court. If financial institutions were involved in the business operations, the FSC would look into the matter, he said. Lee added that account-transfer issues are being handled by the Financial Intelligence Unit under the FSC, while suspicious transaction reports are being reviewed by investigative authorities. After Democratic Party lawmaker Lee Kang-il called for a swift probe, a fast-paced investigation and a full review of the response system for digital-asset crimes, Lee said he would discuss the matter with judicial authorities, Edaily reported. He also said the FIU’s core function is anti-money laundering and stressed the need to support and coordinate with criminal investigative bodies, adding that investigators are also working from the FIU office and that he would work to ensure close coordination with authorities in the KOK case. Prosecutors estimate the KOK coin case was a multi-level fraud scheme that affected 570,707 victims in South Korea and overseas, causing total losses of 2.5759 trillion won ($1.9 billion).

Sui explained that under CCTP V2, USDC is burned on the originating chain and newly minted on the destination chain. The blockchain said developers can build payment and treasury-related services on Sui without separately designing bridge-based infrastructure, while USDC received on Sui can be used immediately within the same inbound transaction. That means deposits, swaps, and payments can be handled in a single transaction. Note: We are participating as an official media partner for Sui Basecamp 2026.

A similar pattern is now being observed, according to the analyst. Crypto Dan added that in past cycle bottoms, Bitcoin traded below its realized price, while this time the correction has been relatively shallow. Even so, the broader picture suggests the market is now in the process of turning into an upcycle, Crypto Dan said.

The UK tax authority, HMRC, is seeking to expand its power to request information from cryptocurrency service providers, raising concerns over the privacy and personal safety of Bitcoin holders, Forbes reported. According to Forbes, the proposed changes would extend financial institution information notice rules to crypto service providers and update access powers related to computer records and software information. A key concern is that if users’ real names, home addresses and taxpayer identification numbers are linked to BTC wallet addresses, public blockchain data could be used to track past transactions and asset movements over long periods. Forbes said a leak of such information could increase the risk of physical crime targeting large holders. Public consultation on the proposal ended on Sept. 7, local time, and the UK government has not yet decided whether to adopt it.
