While exchange deposits are typically interpreted as a sign of potential selling, Coinbase Prime is a prime brokerage platform offering trading, custody and financing services to institutional investors, leaving open the possibility of other uses.

World Liberty Financial CEO Zach Witkoff pushed back in a CNBC interview against allegations of conflicts of interest and preferential treatment surrounding the project. Witkoff said concerns that companies or governments were using the USD1 stablecoin to channel money to President Donald Trump’s family were not true.
Witkoff said USD1 has more than $4 billion in circulation and records more than $1 billion in daily trading volume, which Witkoff described as evidence of use by real transactors. Witkoff also said Zach Witkoff has never discussed business matters with President Trump and will not do so in the future.
Democratic lawmakers, meanwhile, continue to raise the possibility of foreign policy-linked conflicts of interest, citing a UAE-linked group’s acquisition of a 49% stake in World Liberty Financial and income tied to the project for the Trump family.

Kraken received about 12,000 small-value deposits, or a dusting attack, from a wallet linked to HTX, formerly Huobi, Bloomberg reported. Some user accounts were temporarily frozen under compliance review procedures, but access has since been fully restored while funds subject to sanctions remain blocked.
HTX denied carrying out the transfers directly and said it is investigating whether the wallet address was misidentified or whether a third party acted maliciously.

THORChain, a cross-chain decentralized exchange, has announced the THORChain 3.20 protocol upgrade centered on support for native swaps of Monero (XMR) and Zcash (ZEC), Decrypt reported.
The upgrade will allow privacy coins whose market presence had narrowed amid delistings by centralized exchanges and tighter regulation to be swapped directly for Bitcoin (BTC), Ethereum (ETH), and stablecoins without conversion into wrapped assets or the use of CEX accounts and custodial procedures.

Arcus, a decentralized exchange built through a collaboration between the dYdX development team and Robinhood Crypto, has launched the pToken protocol on Robinhood Chain, The Block reported. The protocol allows perpetual futures position accounts to be converted into ERC-20 tokens, letting users gain leveraged exposure by buying and selling them like spot tokens without directly managing complex futures accounts and margin requirements.
The tokenized accounts can also be used as collateral in other DeFi protocols, including on-chain lending markets. Previously, holders of tokenized stocks had to sell those tokens to trade futures, but they can now borrow the stablecoin USDG against stock tokens such as SPY, QQQ and MAG7 and use the proceeds as futures margin, according to The Block.

Crypto custody firm Copper has received acquisition offers of around $200 million from multiple potential buyers as it pursues a sale, CoinDesk reported, citing multiple sources. Two to three parties are currently interested in an acquisition, according to the report. The offers are less than half the roughly $500 million asking price that investment bank Cantor Fitzgerald presented in May.

Crypto asset manager Bitwise plans to launch ATP (Automated Token Portfolios), an automated portfolio service built on tokenized stocks, Bloomberg reported. Through ATP, eligible investors outside the United States will be able to hold portfolios of multiple tokenized equities in their own wallets. Bitwise manages about $9 billion in assets.

Digital asset investment firm Hivemind Digital Group said it secured a $17 million strategic investment led by M&G Investments, with participation from CPIC Investment Management Hong Kong, ZA Bank and FalconX. Hivemind plans to use the proceeds to build infrastructure for tokenizing traditional and digital assets on blockchain networks and to expand global institutional partnerships.

Blockchain analytics firm Chainalysis worked with crypto companies including Binance and Coinbase, as well as global law enforcement agencies, on Operation Lighthouse to track networks distributing child sexual abuse material, CoinDesk reported.
The investigative team analyzed more than 29,000 cryptocurrency addresses and digital identifiers, along with more than 100 related forums and hubs, securing more than 14,000 leads for further investigation. Suspects were identified across 125 countries. Europol, the Australian Federal Police, the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, and the UK’s National Crime Agency also took part in the operation.

LayerZero (ZRO) will launch a new exchange called ATLAS in collaboration with Citadel Securities and the Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC), The Information reported.
ATLAS is designed as underlying exchange infrastructure for other trading platforms and financial institutions rather than as an app for retail users. It will initially support spot cryptocurrency trading and perpetual futures, with plans to expand into prediction contracts, standard futures and options. The platform will be built on Zero, a blockchain LayerZero unveiled in February.

Shipyard, which has maintained core projects for the decentralized file storage system IPFS, said it will halt IPFS-related development, maintenance and infrastructure operations on Sept. 30 after Protocol Labs ended funding.
As a result, projects managed by Shipyard, including Kubo and Helia, will no longer have dedicated maintainers responsible for new feature development, bug fixes and releases. Shipyard also plans to shut down public infrastructure currently in operation, including ipfs.io, dweb.link and IPFS bootstrap nodes. Protocol Labs will decide future operating plans for the related domains and infrastructure.

European crypto asset manager CoinShares will put a proposal to a shareholder vote on Sept. 15 that would allow it to repurchase up to 25% of its outstanding shares, CryptoSlate reported.
The report said the company would not be required to retire the repurchased shares immediately. Instead, CoinShares could hold them as treasury shares and reuse them for purposes including employee compensation, meaning the actual number of shares in circulation would not necessarily fall by 25%.

Recent gains in the cryptocurrency market are being led by Binance and Coinbase, crypto analyst CW8900 said on X.
CW8900 said Binance took in $2.0261 billion in stablecoins and Coinbase received $1.4472 billion on Aug. 21, the day that saw the largest recent stablecoin inflows. Combined inflows to the two exchanges accounted for more than half of the total, CW8900 added.

The Lisk team has unveiled a governance proposal to halt DAO operations and burn 100 million LSK. If approved, a total of 100 million LSK allocated to the DAO treasury for 2027-2033 would be burned, reducing total supply to 300 million LSK from 400 million LSK.
Around 47 million LSK allocated to the DAO treasury through 2026 or currently held there would be transferred to Lisk Ltd. The team also plans to shut down the governance forum and remove the penalty for unstaking LSK early, although users would still need to wait three days before withdrawals. Lisk previously announced it will shut down the Lisk chain on Oct. 31.
