A South Korean court has ruled in Bithumb’s favor in the first trial over its mistaken Bitcoin payout incident in February, ordering the return of proceeds from the sale of wrongly credited BTC, Digital Asset reported. The outlet said four separate return lawsuits are under way, and the first ruling in Bithumb’s favor has increased the likelihood that the exchange will recover sale proceeds in the other cases as well. The civil suit seeks the return of unjust enrichment from users who sold the mistakenly credited Bitcoin and kept the cash. Bithumb filed civil lawsuits in March against four users seeking the return of unjust enrichment.

Bitcoin has entered a recovery phase, but strong selling pressure between $83,000 and $86,000 will be the key test for further gains, according to on-chain analytics firm Glassnode. Glassnode said U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs saw $22.3 billion in net inflows during the rebound, marking the strongest weekly inflow this year. At the same time, signs of overheating in the futures market remain limited. BTC-denominated futures open interest fell 11%, while funding rates stayed near neutral levels, indicating excessive leverage has not rebuilt as spot prices recovered. The firm said the main challenge is a thick layer of supply above $80,000. Major resistance is clustered around $80,800 and $82,300, while multiple resistance levels overlap in the $82,000-$86,000 range, including long-term holder supply and sell walls on order books. Glassnode added that if BTC holds above $83,300 and spot ETF inflows continue, it could signal the market is successfully absorbing that selling pressure.

Dollar liquidity across key order-book levels remained broadly stable as BTC surged to $80,000, suggesting the move was supported by genuine buying demand rather than a thin-market spike, CoinDesk reported. The outlet said dollar liquidity at major quote levels held steady overall during BTC’s advance. Although liquidity edged lower on Aug. 25, it remained within normal ranges, and there was no clear drop in liquidity within 0.5% of the mid-price before or after the rally. CoinDesk said BTC’s roughly 24% rise to $80,000 appears to reflect the market absorbing real buying demand rather than a price distortion caused by low liquidity. The outlet added that August is typically the weakest period for liquidity across both crypto and traditional financial markets because of seasonal factors, making the stable market depth during the rally a sign of strong buying interest.

Cardano and Solana are exposing different structural weaknesses as they test separate on-chain governance models, with low voter participation and proxy voting issues coming into focus, CryptoSlate reported. CryptoSlate said Cardano requires approval from delegated representatives, or DReps, and staking pool operators, or SPOs, to move governance forward, but low participation from both groups is preventing the process from advancing. In Solana’s case, validators can vote using delegated stake, while individual governance votes are highlighting conflicts of interest among validators and confusion over how rules governing passage thresholds should be interpreted. Both networks face the challenge of maintaining effective governance while token holder participation remains low, according to the outlet.

Trust in fiat currencies including the U.S. dollar is likely to weaken, bringing cryptocurrencies and gold into focus as alternative stores of value, according to a recent report from crypto asset manager Grayscale. Zach Pandl, Grayscale’s head of research, said expanded U.S. Treasury buybacks of long-term government bonds are only a stopgap measure that does not address the underlying problem of structural fiscal deficits. Pandl added that U.S. public debt surpassed $40 trillion for the first time on the day the buybacks were announced, while borrowing in the private sector has also risen sharply for AI infrastructure buildouts, adding to upward pressure on interest rates. He said unchecked growth in government debt is eroding confidence in fiat currencies and increasing investor demand for alternative stores of value, with cryptocurrencies including BTC, ETH and ZEC, as well as gold, likely to benefit.

CoinMarketCap’s Altcoin Season Index rose two points from yesterday to 40. The index is calculated by comparing the price performance of Bitcoin with that of the top 100 coins by market capitalization, excluding stablecoins and wrapped coins. If 75% of the top 100 coins outperform Bitcoin over the past 90 days, the market is considered to be in altcoin season. The opposite is considered Bitcoin season. A reading closer to 100 indicates stronger altcoin season conditions.

Investors are buying both gold and Bitcoin as concerns mount over U.S. fiscal conditions and national debt, Bloomberg reported. According to Bloomberg data, a record $7 billion flowed into gold and Bitcoin ETFs over the past five trading days. About $3.4 billion went into State Street Investment Management’s SPDR Gold Shares (GLD), while $1.5 billion flowed into BlackRock’s spot Bitcoin ETF (IBIT). The two products ranked among the top 10 U.S.-listed ETFs by weekly inflows. Bloomberg said the simultaneous surge of funds into gold and Bitcoin stands out. It noted that during past bouts of market stress, gold drew attention as a safe-haven asset while Bitcoin was relatively overlooked. More recently, however, growing concerns over expanded U.S. government borrowing, the dollar’s value, and efforts to suppress long-term interest rates have lifted both scarce assets at the same time.
