Fueling earnings

The NFTs, called Champion NFTs, will play a pivotal role in boosting the core Play-to-Earn (P2E) feature of the game. Players must possess Champion NFTs in order to earn victory points, or VPs, within the game’s central hub called the Arena. These VPs can then be converted to and distributed as Gala (GALA), the native token of the game’s publisher Gala Games.

The amount of VP that a player can acquire depends on factors such as the quantity and ranking of the Champion NFTs in their collection, as well as their tier ranking. Hence, more Champion NFTs means more VPs.

“We are delighted to meet the demand of gamers who are eager to purchase NFTs leading up to the official release of Champions Arena. Through this sale, our goal is to ensure that as many users as possible can experience one of the core functionalities of the game — earning — right from the initial launch,” said Choi Won-jong, Chief Business Officer of ONEUNIVERSE.

Global launch and exclusive offers

Champions Arena will launch globally at 5 PM PT on August 23 as a mobile and PC game with the exception of South Korea and select countries, according to Gala Games. The NFTs will be available for purchase on the Gala Games official website starting today until the launch. They will be packaged within “Champion Boxes” that contain one of 18 different playable Champions, including those in the highest tier of Legendary.

There is also an exclusive 30% discount event running until 3 PM on August 21.

Korean Crypto Exchange Operator Airdrops NFTs to Raise Biodiversity Awareness

Korean Crypto Exchange Operator Airdrops NFTs to Raise Biodiversity AwarenessDunamu, the operator of Upbit, one of South Korea’s leading cryptocurrency exchanges, made an announcement on Thursday regarding its initiative to raise awareness about biodiversity threatened by climate change. In collaboration with four organizations affiliated with the Ministry of Environment, Dunamu plans to transform Climate-Sensitive Biological Indicator Species (CBIS) into non-fungible tokens (NFTs), as reported by news media Daily Hankook.Photo by Alin Andersen on UnsplashAffected biological speciesCBIS encompasses biological species that have experienced significant changes in their seasonal activities, distribution areas, and population sizes due to climate change. These species require ongoing research and management by the government. The National Institute of Biological Resources (NIBR) of the Ministry of Environment compiled a list of 100 such species in July 2010. This list was created to facilitate the efficient monitoring of climate change’s impact on the distribution and vulnerability of biological species on the Korean Peninsula. The initiative is part of the Resource Circulation Climate Action Campaign organized by Dunamu with four environment agencies, namely the NIBR, the Nakdonggang National Institute of Biological Resources (NNIBR), the Honam National Institute of Biological Resources (HNIBR), and the National Institute of Ecology (NIE). Its key objective is to protect the habitats of plants and animals while raising awareness about biodiversity conservation.Species vanishing every 15 minutesWith climate change causing the extinction of one species every 15 minutes, the project aims to raise awareness about this distressing trend. In pursuit of this goal, 15 NFT editions will be distributed through four separate events over the course of a year, commencing on May 19. The participating artists include Jjawook, an artist with developmental disabilities; Jin Kwan-woo, an artist renowned for depicting endangered species using the Korean alphabet Hangul; and members of the Botanical Artists Society of Korea.NFT release planThe initial set of NFTs to be airdropped includes three species: the warbling white-eye, the common camellia, and the house holly-fern. These species have historically inhabited coastal regions of islands. However, as a result of climate change, their distribution and habitat have been shifting towards inland or northern areas. To obtain CBIS NFTs, individuals can visit Dunamu’s metaverse platform 2ndblock. Once there, they will have the opportunity to engage in a resource collection mission. Upon successfully completing the mission, users will receive an NFT gift code. To claim their NFTs, they need to register the provided NFT gift code on the Upbit NFT marketplace.Dunamu CEO Lee Sirgoo expressed his hope that the project would have a positive impact on raising awareness about biodiversity conservation on the Korean Peninsula, which is under threat from climate change. He stated that Dunamu intends to continue utilizing its technology and expertise in diverse ways to contribute to a sustainable future and environment.HNIBR Director Ryu Tae-chul believes that the campaign will encourage recycling in communities to reduce carbon emissions and serve as an inspiration for individuals to actively engage in initiatives that promote a sustainable and biologically diverse planet.

Turkish Lira emerges as dominant fiat trading pair on Binance

Turkish Lira emerges as dominant fiat trading pair on BinanceThe Turkish Lira (TRY) claimed the top spot as the most influential fiat trading pair on Binance throughout the month of September, as per the latest research from the leading cryptocurrency exchange.Photo by PublicDomainPictures on Pixabay75% of all fiat volumeAccording to a report by Cointelegraph on Friday, despite being the fourth-largest crypto market globally in terms of transaction volume, following the United States, India and the United Kingdom, the Turkish Lira commanded a staggering 75% of all fiat volume in early September. This surge in the TRY trading pair is attributed to a recent influx of crypto investors into the Turkish market. In its analysis last month, crypto market data provider Kaiko put Turkish Lira dominance at 81% on Binance. Kaiko also pointed to growth in the volume of the Brazilian Real on Binance, while dominance of the British Pound and the Euro were fading. It’s important to note that the disproportionate level of lira-based fiat volume on the Binance exchange may also have come about due to difficulties Binance has had in recent months in keeping various fiat on and off-ramps open. In June Binance US suspended USD deposits while pausing fiat withdrawals. It has also faced disruption when it comes to Euro payments, withdrawals and deposits. In May Binance Australia users experienced difficulties relative to AUD deposits and withdrawals following a decision to terminate the availability of PayID services to Australian account holders.27% new crypto sector participantsBinance’s research revealed that 27% of participants in Turkey initiated their crypto investment journey within the past year, with 8% joining in the last six months alone. Most respondents indicated holding up to $175 (5,000 TRY) in cryptocurrencies, expressing a strong inclination towards investing in real estate. The profitability factor emerged as a significant motivator for Turkey’s interest in crypto, with ease of monitoring, no minimum threshold, and low transaction costs standing out as key drivers for new investors. However, the inherent risks associated with crypto investments contribute to the hesitancy observed among many Turkish investors. The evolving landscape of crypto adoption in Turkey is evident in the statistics, showing a substantial increase from 16% to 40% over the last three years. Chainalysis’ Global Crypto Adoption Index 2023 ranks Turkey at 12th place. Moreover, the country received humanitarian aid in the form of cryptocurrency during the 2023 earthquake, underscoring the growing integration of digital assets in various aspects of Turkish society.Protecting long-term wealthA report by KuCoin earlier this year identified a marked increase in crypto investors in Turkey. It found that one of the main motivations for the pursuit of crypto investments in Turkey was the desire to create long-term wealth. Recent years have seen the Turkish sovereign currency suffer from runaway inflation. Recent data put the year-on-year inflation rate at 59%.It’s likely that the ongoing loss of buying power of the Turkish Lira is a key motivator for Turkish citizens in choosing to onboard into crypto, in an effort to safeguard their savings and wealth.

Parameta and Solbric Korea to Create First Solar Power Plant Security Token Platform in Korea

Parameta and Solbric Korea to Create First Solar Power Plant Security Token Platform in KoreaSouth Korean blockchain company Parameta (formerly known as Iconloop) said Tuesday it entered a business deal with Solbric Korea, a subsidiary of solar energy innovation company Next Solar Energy, to jointly establish the country’s first solar power plant security token platform that allows investors to make fractional investments in solar energy.Photo by Nuno Marques on UnsplashReceiving approval as an innovative financial serviceIn order to establish such a platform that designates solar power plants as underlying assets, they will jointly apply for a financial regulatory sandbox — a program introduced by the Korean government that offers a special and provisional regulatory exemption for financial services that have been recognized for their innovativeness.Once the platform is recognized under the sandbox as an innovative financial service, the two companies will work together on the issuance and distribution of security tokens.Expanding opportunities to invest in solar energyUltimately, Solbric aims to build a platform that brings security token technology to the solar power sector, which, until now, has presented limited investment opportunities for individual investors in Korea. It will allow them to trade securities and make small-scale, fractional investments in solar power plants. To do so, Solbric intends to leverage the knowledge and expertise of its parent company, Next Solar Energy — an experienced veteran in the solar plant industry. As its partner, Parameta will provide the necessary blockchain technology for constructing and managing the platform based on its security token offering service, Parameta S. This service uses tokens to allow fractional management of real-world assets (RWAs), making it easy to invest in and organize them. This offers more liquidity and flexibility compared to traditional investment methods.“We will focus on providing investment returns to platform users as well as the unique experience of owning various solar power plants,” said Kang Jae-won, the CEO of Solbric Korea.Increased institutional supportThis project is made possible by the recent upturn in institutional support from Korean financial authorities that allows more security token offerings. Last month, the Korean Financial Services Commission ultimately granted regulatory exemptions to several fractional investment firms that have successfully completed the business reorganization as requested by the regulator. The Financial Supervisory Service has also decided to allow fractional investment businesses to apply for investment contract securities.Taking advantage of this momentum, Solbric and Parameta plan to continually explore diverse business opportunities to establish their platform.“We are currently working with various specialized companies, including Solbric, to expand our security token businesses in various fields such as solar power plants, mobility, real estate non-performing loans, carbon emission rights, and electric vehicle batteries,” said Kim Jong-hyup, CEO of Parameta.
