Empowering the XPLA ecosystem

Through this partnership, Gumi is expected to play a crucial role in enhancing transparency, stability and scalability as a validator in the XPLA ecosystem. The collaboration aims to explore new possibilities in blockchain technology and integrate them into the gaming industry, thereby maximizing the benefits for all participants in the ecosystem and connecting game developers with players.

Over a decade of global impact

Since its establishment in 2007, Gumi has been active in the Japanese and global markets, engaging in various mobile gaming and blockchain projects. Recently, the company has not only been involved in the production of and investment in Web3 games but also operates as a key node operator in multiple blockchain projects. By working with Gumi, XPLA anticipates solidifying its position as a global Web3 gaming industry leader and expanding its influence in the Japanese Web3 market.

“Through this partnership, we will gain insights into the Japanese market and strive to create a more reliable ecosystem,” said Paul Kim, leader of the XPLA team.

Fortifying trust and redefining the Web3 landscape

XPLA’s validators are responsible for verifying the integrity of the blockchain, analyzing on-chain data to improve operations and ensuring the security of the XPLA ecosystem. By passing a proposal to increase the number of validators from 50 to 80 this year, XPLA aims to create an environment that accommodates more validators, thus building a more robust and trustworthy ecosystem.

XPLA is an L1 mainnet that hosts numerous Web3 companies like Oasys, Animoca Brands, YGG, Blockdaemon, Cosmos Station and LayerZero as participants. It has onboarded multiple IP-based hit games like Summoners War: Chronicles, Minigame Party, Ace Fishing: Crew, Idle Ninja Online and The Walking Dead: All-Stars, effectively becoming a global Web3 content and gaming hub.

Web3 chatting app Beoble launches beta version with 50,000 users

Web3 chatting app Beoble launches beta version with 50,000 usersWeb3 social messaging app Beoble has secured over 50,000 users in just one day since the beta version of the app was released on Saturday (KST), according to a post on its official X account. This comes after pre-registration applications closed on Nov. 30, which saw over 100,000 sign-ups.Photo by Andrej Lišakov on UnsplashEmpowering Web3 connectivityBeoble is a Web3-based social messenger platform that employs a decentralized encryption network called the Communication Delivery Graph. It allows users to engage in end-to-end encrypted chatting between their digital wallets and offers a communication toolkit for integrating decentralized applications (dApps). The app currently supports all EVM-compatible blockchains like Ethereum and Polygon and plans to add others like Solana, Aptos and Sui in the future.“Beoble is essentially the first Web3 messaging app with the complete user experience,” said Cho Sung-min, CEO of Beoble. In particular, Beoble has gained attention for having a low barrier to entry due to its user-friendly user interface and experience (UI/UX). Notably, the platform facilitates direct communication between Web3 wallet owners and allows them to conduct non-fungible token (NFT) and peer-to-peer (P2P) transactions.Incentivizing community engagementThe Beoble team explained that the ongoing beta test will be an opportunity to incorporate user feedback and improve services. It will also be a period during which users can receive rewards based on their chat room engagement.“The more active users are in the community, the higher their rewards. Rewards can be obtained through activities like completing quests, following others, reacting to messages and logging in,” the firm explained. The Beoble rewards system distributes “cat points” to users based on their participation and contribution to the ecosystem, which are then used to determine their eligibility for rewards like token airdrops.Beoble also previously raised $2 million in pre-seed funding, backed by investors like Digital Currency Group, HashKey Capital and Genesis Blockchain Ventures. The platform’s public launch is scheduled for Q1 2024.

Shares in Moon Inc. surge following 1 BTC purchase

Shares in Moon Inc. (formerly HK Asia Holdings Limited), a publicly listed Hong Kong-based firm that acts as an investment holding company while engaged in activities such as wholesale and retail sales of prepaid products such as SIM cards, have surged following the company’s symbolic purchase of one Bitcoin (BTC).Photo by Thought Catalog on Unsplash93% share price increaseThe stock (1723.HK), which is listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange (HKEX), closed at HKD 5.50 following Monday’s trading. That represents a 93% increase compared to the closing share price following the previous day’s trading. The share price has settled somewhat following Tuesday’s trading, pulling back 16% to HKD 4.60. However, it jumped again on Feb. 21, closing at HKD 6.48. Bitcoin adoptionIt’s believed that the stock has been influenced by a decision taken by the company to adopt Bitcoin. The firm bought just one Bitcoin. However, the move has led to speculation as to whether Moon Inc. will become the MicroStrategy (now rebranded as “Strategy”) of China.  Michael Saylor’s Strategy has pioneered the use of Bitcoin as a corporate treasury asset. The company has positioned itself as the frontrunner in terms of the corporate adoption of Bitcoin. The company has amassed 471,000 Bitcoin within its reserves. This accounts for 2% of all Bitcoin. With Strategy’s Bitcoin playbook having been well documented, other companies now appear to be following its lead.  In recent weeks, Metaplanet, a Japanese Bitcoin treasury company, has demonstrated that it is pursuing the same strategy, outlining its ambition to build a reserve of 21,000 Bitcoin by 2026. On Feb. 18, it announced a 10-to-1 stock split in an effort to improve liquidity while executing on that overall Bitcoin treasury goal. Metaplanet shares have surged 3,900% over the course of the past 12 months on the back of its Bitcoin treasury pivot. On Feb. 16, Moon Inc. announced the purchase of its first Bitcoin at a unit price of $96,150. In a statement, the company said that the purchase was financed by way of the firm’s “internal resources.” An evolving global financial landscapeThe company’s board noted the increasing popularity of cryptocurrencies in the commercial world, with particular emphasis on the use of Bitcoin as an investment portfolio asset. It believes that Bitcoin acts as a dependable store of value. It added: “The Board believes that this initial investment is symbolic in scale, and marks a significant step toward aligning with the evolving global financial landscape, and would diversify the Group’s investment portfolio and enhance its asset value.” The company’s stock rose significantly last month when details emerged of a 70% stock position in the firm, taken by UTXO Management, in collaboration with Sora Ventures and other investors. Recently appointed board member John Riggins of BTC Inc. said that this recent Bitcoin purchase by Moon Inc. “is more than a transaction.” He stated, “It’s a bold step toward creating a vision for the future of the company.”
