BingX embarks on rebrand to further service offering

Web3 & Enterprise·November 25, 2023, 3:42 AM

BingX, the Singapore-headquartered cryptocurrency exchange platform, has taken the decision to rebrand the business.

Improving the trading experience

The platform, originally known for its role in guiding newcomers into the crypto space through copy trading, claims that the move is designed to elevate the trading experience for users by prioritizing simplicity, efficiency and security.

This transformation includes a substantial overhaul of BingX’s visual identity, highlighted by a streamlined logo that caters to the practical needs of traders. The changes extend to the platform’s color palette and typography on digital platforms, all aimed at making the trading process more intuitive and user-friendly.

Broadening market appeal

While initially recognized for its focus on crypto beginners, BingX is now broadening its horizons. The platform introduces advanced features catering to a diverse range of crypto enthusiasts, from novices to seasoned traders. This expansion underscores BingX’s adaptive approach to the dynamic cryptocurrency market, addressing the evolving needs of its user base.

Megan Nyvold, Head of Branding at BingX, outlined that the rebranding aligns with the company’s enduring vision of democratizing crypto trading globally, emphasizing diversity and creating professional, user-centric trading environments.

From ‘Trading Made Easy‘ to ‘Empowering Traders’

In tandem with the visual changes, BingX has also unveiled a new tagline, transitioning from “Trading Made Easy” to “Empowering Traders.” This shift emphasizes the company’s commitment to supporting traders at all levels, ensuring access to reliable and transparent services.

In a blog post published by the company on Thursday, Nyvold stated:

”Over the past five years, BingX’s vision to build a gateway for the next billion crypto users has been unwavering. As part of this evolution, we have refined our core values with a renewed emphasis on promoting diversity. As we introduce our refreshed brand identity, we reaffirm our assurance of empowering our users, focusing on a more professional and user-centric trading environment that aligns with our vision for collective success.”

This latest move is one of a number of ongoing efforts BingX has made this year to further develop the business. In July, the company introduced AstraBit to the platform, an automated algorithmic trading and portfolio management tool, to enhance and automate the crypto trading experience for its platform users.

The following month, it introduced a Multiple Deposit Addresses feature to enable greater flexibility and convenience for service users. September brought a collaboration with WunderTrading, adding the use of its automated trading bots to BingX platform users. Earlier this year, the company had integrated crypto portfolio tracker CoinTracking with the platform, in an effort to allow service users to generate reports for tax purposes with ease.

BingX was founded in Singapore in 2018 by Josh Lu. The platform claims to have five million service users.

ZkLink Snags $10M Funding Ahead of Mainnet Launch

ZkLink Snags $10M Funding Ahead of Mainnet LaunchZkLink, a layer 2 multi-chain blockchain network project based out of Singapore, has secured $10 million in funding in advance of its mainnet launch which is scheduled for Q3, 2023.Photo by Markus Winkler on UnsplashStrategic funding roundThe Singaporean project offers a blockchain infrastructure layer that enables the ability to trade digital assets across various disparate blockchain networks. Coinbase Ventures, the investment arm of US cryptocurrency exchange Coinbase, focuses its attention on early-stage cryptocurrency and blockchain projects. That’s precisely why it has now participated in a $10 million investment in the Singaporean start-up, given that the ZkLink network doesn’t launch on mainnet for a number of months yet. Other participants in the funding round included Ascensive Assets, SIG DTI, BigBrain Holdings, Efficient Frontier, among others. In posting news of the funding to social media, ZkLink confirmed that the fresh strategic funding round has brought total funding to date to $18.5 million. “The funds raised take zkLink a step further to envision a multi-chain future with unified liquidity and seamless multi-chain user experience while remaining fully trustless and self-custodial,” the project stated. Its previous $8.5 million funding round was completed in October 2021. Among the early investors on that occasion were Arrington Capital, DeFi Alliance, Huobi Ventures, Ascensive Assets, Morningstar Ventures, GSR, Marshland Capital, Skynet Trading, ZBS Capital, and others. New York-based blockchain financing and investment platform, Republic Crypto, was the lead investor at that time.Bridging assets securely acrossZkLink uses zero knowledge technology in order to connect various layer one and layer two networks. A zero knowledge proof is the core innovation that the approach relies upon, with the proof presenting as a cryptographic technique that ensures that no data is revealed during a transaction, save for the exchange of some known value already evident to both prover and verifier. That approach makes for efficient cross-chain bridging, guaranteeing strong security without external trust assumptions. By connecting various layer one and layer two networks, zkLink claims that it empowers the next generation of decentralized trading products.Developers can access ZkLink application programming interfaces (APIs) in order to create order book decentralized exchanges (DEXs), NFT marketplaces, among other use cases. The project is harnessing zero knowledge technology to abstract away all the complexity of multi-chain trading while keeping it ultra secure and true to the ethos of crypto.A multi-chain futureWith blockchain networks being highly fragmented, the concept of a multi-chain future is one that is being increasingly embraced within the crypto space. Various projects have been launched in an effort to effect such a scenario. However, the first generation of bridging solutions have proven to be weak from a security perspective. Zero knowledge technology is seen as a potential solution to this issue.Effecting a seamless multi-chain will also bring about greater efficiencies. As a case in point, currently USDT-Ethereum and USDT-Solana exist as separate assets on distinct blockchains representing the very same USDT stablecoin. With seamless bridging, there would be no need for the duplication. In recent days, the ZkLink project team has been busy working on safety features related to securing decentralized finance protocols. In a press release associated with that work, ZkLink Co-Founder Vince Lang stated: “It is unacceptable that billions of dollars are lost each year due to custody fraud or cross-chain bridge exploits, so we encourage other DeFi protocols to conduct the same test to prove self-custody of user’s funds.”

FPG Halts Withdrawals Following Hack

FPG Halts Withdrawals Following HackFloating Point Group (FPG), a prominent crypto prime brokerage platform, has temporarily halted trading, deposits, and withdrawals following a cyber security incident that occurred on Sunday.Photo by Thom Milkovic on UnsplashIncident responseFPG, headquartered in Singapore while maintaining a base in Hoboken, New Jersey in the United States, manages over $50 billion in assets. The firm took immediate action upon discovering the incident by engaging third-party forensics experts and law enforcement agencies. The company acknowledged the problem publicly via a tweet thread on Twitter on Wednesday. FPG stated that the company has locked all third-party accounts and secured its wallets while it investigates the extent and details of the breach. Although the full extent of the loss is still under investigation, the current estimate stands at approximately $15 million to $20 million in lost cryptocurrencies.Investigative cooperationIn response to the incident, FPG is collaborating with the FBI, the Department of Homeland Security, regulatory bodies, and Chainalysis to comprehend the nature of the attack and initiate asset recovery measures. As the investigation involving those entities is ongoing, specific details are not being disclosed at this stage, but FPG has pledged to provide updates as new information becomes available. The cyber security incident comes six months after FPG obtained a SOC 2 certification, which verifies the implementation of robust security, privacy, and control measures by service organizations to ensure the reliable handling of sensitive data and systems.Originally founded in 2018 at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in the US, FPG functions as both a crypto prime brokerage platform and an agency trading desk for asset managers, offering access to liquidity across various markets. In December, FPG announced that its blockchain foundation customers accounted for 5% of the total treasury management market.Backed by prominent investors such as Coinbase Ventures, Anthony Scaramucci of SkyBridge Capital, and Naval Ravikant, the founder of AngelList, FPG has raised a total of $12 million in funding thus far.In August of the previous year, FPG successfully registered as a virtual asset service provider (VASP) in the Cayman Islands. This registration ensured the secure custody of customer assets and safeguarded them from the company’s creditors in the unlikely event of bankruptcy.Broader crypto issuesIt has not been a good couple of weeks for the crypto sector relative to hacks and platform withdrawal pauses. Within the past twenty four hours, two Asia-based crypto lending platforms, Haru Invest and Delio, have suspended withdrawals. In those cases, the issue is suspected to relate to platform contagion and solvency issues.Earlier this month, the Atomic Wallet platform was hacked despite the understanding that the project offered self-custodial wallets. Originally, the loss was estimated at $35 million, but more recent reports are now estimating that figure to be in excess of $100 million. As FPG continues its efforts to mitigate the aftermath of the cyber attack, industry participants eagerly await further updates and measures undertaken by the company to recover from this incident and restore trust among its clients.
