UK to appoint digital markets champion to advance asset tokenization

The UK plans to appoint a Digital Markets Champion to coordinate private sector tokenization in its wholesale financial markets, Bloomberg reported. The country will also establish a Dematerialised Market Action Taskforce to oversee the phasing out of paper stock certificates. The goal is to modernize the issuance, trading, clearing, and settlement of assets using blockchain and AI.
