Ethereum Foundation activates BPO-1, boosting L2 capacity

The Ethereum Foundation has announced that the BPO-1 upgrade was activated on Dec. 10, increasing the blob capacity per block to 15. This enhancement expands Ethereum's Layer 2 space without requiring a hard fork. A further upgrade, BPO-2, which is designed to increase capacity even more, is scheduled for activation in January 2026.
