Kevin Hassett, Director of the White House National Economic Council (NEC), has emerged as a leading candidate to be the next Chair of the Federal Reserve, Bloomberg reported. Citing sources, the report noted that President Trump believes Hassett could be instrumental in pressuring the central bank to lower interest rates. Hassett has publicly stated that current economic indicators warrant an immediate rate cut, aligning his stance with Trump's monetary policy preferences. However, Bloomberg cautioned that nothing is certain until a final announcement, given President Trump's history of making unexpected personnel and policy decisions. Other final candidates mentioned by the president include former Fed Governor Kevin Warsh and current Fed Governor Christopher Waller.
