Coinbase faces class-action lawsuit over alleged biometric data violations in Illinois

Crypto exchange Coinbase is facing a class-action lawsuit in Illinois for allegedly violating the state's Biometric Information Privacy Act (BIPA), according to Cointelegraph. The lawsuit claims that Coinbase requires users to verify their identity with a government-issued ID and a selfie, which are processed by third-party facial recognition software without providing written notice or obtaining proper consent regarding the collection, storage or sharing of biometric data.
