Financial incentives for scooter investments

Subscribers of Boats now have the option to invest in electric scooters operated by Swing. For those who choose to purchase these scooters, Swing offers a financial incentive: an average return rate of 7.5% on the purchase price, paid out over a period of 30 months. In addition, buyers will receive a complimentary one-hour ride on Swing mobility devices. Each scooter available for purchase through Boats is priced at KRW 750,000 (approximately $564). At the end of the 30-month period, Swing commits to buying back the scooter from the purchaser.

Simulation program to earn points

Boats subscribers now have access to a scooter simulation program known as Swing Miles. Within this program, subscribers can assign one of the scooters operating on the Swing platform as their own. They can then monitor various performance metrics such as mileage, routes taken, and payment rates for their designated scooter. Whenever other riders use that specific scooter, the subscriber earns 10% of the payment made by those riders, awarded as Swing Points. These points can be redeemed like cash for services or devices within the Swing app. Before launching Boats, the company conducted a two-month beta test to enhance the service’s quality and accuracy.

Jung Sung-ha, an official at Swing, explained that although the newly launched program does offer an average return rate for users, it is primarily aimed at scooter riders rather than professional investors. Jung noted that riders can directly invest in scooters and enjoy the service as if it were a game. According to Jun, the company plans to use the point system as a way to boost customer engagement.

AliExpress Partners With ‘The Moment3!’ NFT Project

AliExpress Partners With ‘The Moment3!’ NFT ProjectAliExpress, the renowned global e-commerce platform and subsidiary of China’s Alibaba Group, is making its entry into the world of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) through a newly announced partnership with The Moment3!, a Web3 project. The collaboration aims to release a collection of 5,555 NFTs later this month.Photo by Andrey Metelev on UnsplashWhat is ‘The Moment3!’?Oddly, we know very little about the project. Its Telegram channel has just been established, it doesn’t have a website, while its Discord and Twitter channels are also recently established with modest followings. Anonymity is a feature in Web3 and perhaps that’s the approach this project is taking. Whatever the background, it has to be said that there must be some talent behind the project for it to secure the backing of an entity like AliExpress by way of this partnership. This recent announcement was initially made on AliExpress’ official Twitter account but that tweet has since been removed. The project itself tweeted out news of the partnership on Thursday. The Moment3!’s mission, as stated in its Twitter bio, revolves around utilizing NFTs to immortalize special moments on the blockchain.According to the project’s Discord channel, The Moment3! aims to connect with real-world businesses and provide NFT owners with benefits and exclusive rights beyond the collectible value.NFT debutThis marks AliExpress’ initial venture into the NFT market, although its parent company, Alibaba, has previously explored the Web3 space. In September 2022, Alibaba’s luxury shopping platform, Tmall Luxury Pavilion, introduced an immersive shopping metaverse experience and introduced the Meta Pass, granting users free access to virtual experiences.Alibaba-Centric Web3 projectsThere have been several other Web3-related investments and developments related to Alibaba Group companies in recent months.Last month, Alibaba Cloud, one of the world’s largest cloud computing companies, joined forces with the Avalanche layer one blockchain project to introduce “Cloudverse,” a launchpad facilitating the creation of personalized spaces within the metaverse for businesses. In April Alibaba Cloud was the co-organizer of the Web3 Festival, an event held in Hong Kong to showcase the autonomous Chinese territory for the development of the Web3 sector. The four-day event attracted 10,000 attendees. In early May, Artifact Labs, a Hong Kong-based start-up company that specializes in metaverse and Web3 product offerings, raised $3.25 million in a funding round led by Blue Pool Capital. The investment firm is the personal investment vehicle of Alibaba founders Jack Ma and Joe Tsai.NFT warningAliExpress, owned by Alibaba Group, is a global e-commerce platform that does not cater to customers in mainland China, despite being headquartered in China. The Chinese government prohibited all cryptocurrency transactions in September 2021. NFTs remained legal although authorities recently issued a warning on their use, together with some guidelines. With its new collaboration, AliExpress is expanding its reach into the Web3 space and exploring the potential of NFTs. As the release date approaches, anticipation grows to witness the specific features and benefits offered by the 5,555 NFTs that will soon be available to the public.

Bitget Introduces Innovative MPC Wallet for Enhanced Security

Bitget Introduces Innovative MPC Wallet for Enhanced SecurityBitget, the Seychelles-registered crypto derivatives platform, has unveiled a cutting-edge security and key management feature that could potentially be a game changer in terms of the way users safeguard their assets.Photo by Shubham’s Web3 on UnsplashIntroducing Multi-Party Computation (MPC)As confirmed via a press release on Tuesday, the Bitget team has introduced the Multi-Party Computation (MPC) wallet service to its Bitget Wallet, a relatively new solution in the realm of cryptocurrency security. This development comes on the heels of the launch of the account abstraction wallet service powered by the Ethereum scaling protocol Starknet in July. The introduction of the MPC wallet could well be a paradigm shift relative to crypto security as it leverages a distributed key generation mechanism, distributing multiple key shares to various locations under the control of different parties. This approach introduces a robust process, demanding that the owners of these distributed private key shares collectively sign and authorize transactions.Notably, the MPC wallet shatters the conventional industry practice of relying on users to store or memorize mnemonic phrases and private keys. In a departure from the current norm, this wallet streamlines the user experience by eliminating the need for mnemonics and instead implementing a password-based authentication method provided by Bitget, effectively eliminating the reliance on a single-point private key.Unlocking MPC technologyBitget’s vision with the MPC wallet is to deliver a user experience reminiscent of traditional Web2 products and services. From a technical standpoint, the MPC wallet is rooted in a threshold signature scheme, employing secure large prime numbers to underpin its security architecture. This consumer-oriented development mandates a minimum number for signature authorization, requiring two-thirds of the total key shares to complete the signature necessary for authorizing a transaction. Notably, the final key share finds secure refuge on a backup cloud server, contributing to a highly decentralized and secure ecosystem. Moreover, the MPC wallet offers a robust sharing mechanism that automatically invalidates key shares on older devices when new devices are integrated. This innovative feature substantially mitigates the risk of key shares being compromised on outdated or forgotten devices, reinforcing user confidence and security.Trending towards crypto self-custodyBitget’s introduction of the MPC wallet underscores the growing significance of self-custody in the cryptocurrency space. In the wake of high-profile failures and security breaches on centralized exchanges, such as FTX, self-custody has emerged as a paramount consideration for cryptocurrency enthusiasts and investors. As a testament to this trend, in March 2023, Ledger, a prominent hardware wallet manufacturer, secured $109 million in funding to bolster hardware production and develop novel products, underlining the increasing demand for secure and user-centric solutions in the crypto world.Bitget Wallet is a rebrand of the wallet produced by BitKeep, a Singapore-based project which Bitget acquired earlier this year. The crypto platform has been working on various initiatives that go some way towards reassuring customers. It had previously introduced proof of reserves reporting. While this system doesn’t provide the whole picture, proof of reserves does go some way in reassuring customers that their funds are still held by the platform and not loaned out or otherwise removed from the platform.

Emurgo Looks to Fill in Missing Cardano Ecosystem Components

Emurgo Looks to Fill in Missing Cardano Ecosystem ComponentsEmurgo, the Singapore-based commercial arm and a founding entity of the Cardano blockchain network, plans on working towards filling in the gaps relative to needed Cardano ecosystem components. So said Emurgo Founder and CEO Ken Kodama, in a recent discussion with Andrew Fenton, the Editor of Cointelegraph’s magazine. Emurgo is one of the three entities governing Cardano and has taken on the task of addressing what it perceives as “missing” components in the Cardano blockchain when compared to other leading blockchains.Photo by Traxer on UnsplashAddressing 21 categoriesKodama outlined a strategic shift in Emurgo’s approach, describing it as a transition to a venture studio model to address 21 specific categories that he and his team believe require attention. According to Kodama, the solutions to these gaps will either be built by Emurgo themselves or sourced through investments, hackathons, or grants to incentivize developers within the Cardano community. Kodama stated: “So, that’s what we need to focus on, shifting from where we are today into a venture studio model.”One area that the Emurgo CEO is looking to address is the need to introduce layer 2 solutions to enhance Cardano’s scalability. While other blockchains have seen significant development in this area, Kodama feels that Cardano needs to catch up. Therefore, it’s a priority for Emurgo to cultivate a similar environment within the Cardano network.Along those lines, Emurgo is exploring zero-knowledge rollups and optimistic rollups, indicating the firm’s commitment to exploring and investing in what is the latest cutting-edge blockchain technology. To this end, they’ve already organized hackathons centered around these themes.Developer proficiency issueThe Emurgo boss feels that one of these 21 shortfalls is more pressing than the rest. Kodama acknowledged that the barrier of having developers proficient in more obscure programming languages like Haskell and Plutus is a difficulty. He believes the current pool of developers with expertise in these languages is insufficient. To address this, Emurgo is keen to promote Aiken, a toolkit and a new programming language designed to facilitate the development of smart contracts on the Cardano blockchain.Another one of the highlighted gaps is the absence of a robust decentralized identity (DID) system for enterprise adoption within the Cardano ecosystem. Kodama voiced his concern in this respect, stating: “We don’t see that much DID application being built on Cardano. So, that’s the first gap, or primary gap that we need to fill in.”“Aiken and other programming language applicability are quite important to broaden the number of builders able to build on top of Cardano. We have been educating builders to code in Haskell and Plutus. We had more than 2,000 graduates. However, that’s not really enough,” Kodama added.Emurgo has high hopes for Aiken and similar programming languages that can be integrated into Cardano, with the aim of diversifying the pool of developers capable of creating smart contracts on the platform, using a variety of programming languages.
