MKR price drops following phishing attack on MakerDAO governance delegate

Web3 anti-scam solution provider Scam Sniffer reported on X that a MakerDAO governance delegate fell victim to malicious permit phishing signatures about 27 hours ago. According to Lookonchain, this resulted in the theft of $11.1 million, comprising 3,657 MKR tokens valued at $8.7 million and 2.56 million PT Ethena tokens worth $2.4 million. At the time of writing, MKR is trading at $2,249.46, down 6.49% over the past 24 hours, as per CoinMarketCap data. On-chain analyst @EmberCN noted on X that this incident is linked to a security breach at crypto portfolio tracker CoinStats, which affected 1.3% of all CoinStats Wallets or approximately 1,590 wallets. CoinStats has advised affected users to transfer their funds immediately.
