Citadel Securities calls on U.S. SEC to slow tokenization efforts

American market-making firm Citadel Securities has urged the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to take a more cautious approach to the adoption of tokenized securities, according to Bloomberg. In a comment letter submitted on July 21 to the SEC’s Crypto Task Force, the company argued that relaxing traditional securities regulations to support tokenization could cause investor confusion and lead to regulatory imbalances between exchanges and publicly traded companies. Citadel recommended that tokenization be addressed through a formal rulemaking process.
