Titi Financial Announces $TITI Airdrop

Web3 & Enterprise·May 08, 2023, 12:35 AM

Titi Financial, the team behind Titi Protocol, a project that aims to further its $TiUSD algorithmic stablecoin, announced that it is currently distributing the first round of airdrops of its $TITI governance token.

Taking to social media, the Singapore-based project encouraged interested parties to check their eligibility for the airdrop on the project’s website. In a Medium blog post, the project stated: “In order to give back to the users who have supported us all the way, TiTi protocol has decided to conduct the first round of airdrops to community users.”

An algorithmic stablecoin

TiTi Protocol is a decentralized, 100% collateral-backed, ‘use-to-earn’ algorithmic stablecoin. It aims to provide diversified and decentralized financial services based on the crypto-native stablecoin system, with an autonomous monetary policy.

Alongside $TITI as the project’s governance token, $TiUSD is the accompanying stablecoin issued by TiTi Protocol.

Initial DEX offering (IDO)

The airdrop runs until May 9. Once that process has been completed, the project intends to launch on mainnet through an initial DEX offering (IDO). IDO volume will be 10 million $TITI, 1% of total issuance, with an initial price per token of $0.06.

Launching on the Ethereum blockchain, the IDO commences on May 10, with the sale running until 8:00 UTC on May 13. Buyers have until 08:00 UTC on May 14 to claim their tokens. Total token supply has been set at 1,000,000,000 $TITI. Purchase amount parameters have been set, with a minimum to maximum range extending from $100 to $3,000. The $TITI token can be purchased using USDC, USDT or DAI stablecoin. The project has advised participants to prepare by having an Ethereum compatible wallet available, such as MetaMask, Gnosis Safe or WalletConnect.

$3.5 million fund raise

Last month, the project disclosed that it had been successful in raising $3.5 million in funding. The funding round was led by California-based Spartan Group, a blockchain advisory and asset management firm. Other venture investors included SevenX Ventures, Incuba Alpha, DeFi Alliance, Agnostic Fund, Fourth Revolution Capital and Solidity Venture. A number of individual investors associated with Alpha Venture DAO and 0x1b from Fold Finance also participated.

Overcoming algorithmic design shortcomings

It’s interesting to see a renewed interest in algorithmic stablecoins after the epic collapse of Terra Luna in 2022. Additionally, it’s noteworthy that an institutional investment appetite exists given that backdrop. Lead investor Spartan Group cited the depegging risk alongside poor liquidity as being a known problem where algorithmic stablecoins are concerned. However, the investor believes that the Titi Protocol has the necessary design elements incorporated to counteract these issues.

One of the key features of the protocol is that liquidity providers only need to provide single sided liquidity to Titi automated market makers (AMMs). The protocol itself covers the other side of that process, doing the math to mint the equivalent value of TiUSD.

In April, the project also announced a partnership with Alpha Venture DAO. The decentralized venture capital fund is financed by its own community. Furthermore, Titi Finance can call on the expertise and skills of the DAOs members.

CFX surges as Conflux teases yuan-pegged stablecoin & 3.0 launch

Conflux Network, a layer-1, regulatory-compliant Chinese blockchain focused on borderless transactions, has announced the upcoming launch of the Conflux 3.0 mainnet together with an offshore yuan-pegged stablecoin, resulting in its native CFX token surging.Photo by Eric Prouzet on UnsplashPartnershipA notice published on the website of the Shanghai Municipal People’s Government on July 20 reported on the Conflux Tree Graph Technology and Ecological Development Conference, which was held in Shanghai over three days from July 18 to July 20. Over the course of the three-day event, the project announced a partnership with AnchorX, a Hong Kong-based fintech firm specializing in stablecoins, and Shenzhen-based Eastcompeace Technology.  The purpose of the initiative is to develop a stablecoin pegged to the offshore yuan (CNH), the version of China’s currency that circulates outside the mainland. The report outlined that in recent years, stablecoins and tokenized real-world assets (RWAs) have come to global attention.  Belt & Road InitiativeGiven this backdrop, it was outlined that “creating an independent and controllable high-performance public chain system” could be of great benefit to China and its Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), which sets out to develop infrastructure across 150 countries to facilitate trade with China. This is not the first point at which AnchorX has collaborated with Conflux. Back in February, the company received in-principle approval from the Astana Financial Services Authority (AFSA) in Kazakhstan to issue CNH-pegged stablecoins. Growing bilateral trade between Kazakhstan and China was cited as the rationale behind the license, given the need for cross-border payments. At the time, it was outlined that the AxCNH yuan-pegged stablecoin would be issued on the Conflux blockchain. It’s unclear if this same stablecoin is the focus of this latest development or whether an entirely new yuan-pegged stablecoin will be issued.AnchorX collaborated with Conflux in 2024 to bring about the issuance of AxHKD, a Hong Kong dollar-pegged stablecoin. The stablecoin runs on the Conflux blockchain, with the stablecoin issuer using OKLink Trust as its custodian. TokenPocket, a multi-chain crypto wallet project, also outlined on X on July 21 that it too is involved in the partnership with Conflux and AnchorX. The project outlined that it will support the growth of stablecoin adoption, the development of cross-border payment solutions and the promotion of tokenized RWAs in international markets through the collaboration.  Pilot projectsTokenPocket went on to explain that the companies plan to launch pilot projects in Central Asia, Southeast Asia and other regions, building “a compliant, secure, and innovative fintech framework to boost the role of the Conflux ecosystem as critical infrastructure for cross-border trade.” It was revealed at the conference that the mainnet release of Conflux 3.0 will occur in August. With the implementation of further optimized execution modules, the project expects 3.0 to result in a network throughput of 15,000 transactions per second (TPS).  These developments over the course of the weekend have had an impact on the unit price of Conflux’s native token, CFX. On July 19, the token was trading at around $0.1043. According to CoinMarketCap data, at the time of writing, it’s trading at $0.2232, a 2.58% increase over the past day.

Thai Opposition Party Offers Election Crypto Sweetener

Thai Opposition Party Offers Election Crypto SweetenerThailand’s opposition party, the Pheu Thai Party (PTP), has made a controversial move ahead of next month’s general election by offering 10,000 baht (approximately $300) in digital assets to citizens above 16 years old in exchange for their votes.©Unsplash/Markus WinklerThe stated intention of the policy is to spread the use of blockchain-based assets and attract international digital currencies, as well as to distribute products made in Thailand abroad using blockchain technology. Prommin Lertsuridej, who runs the party’s economic policy committee has claimed that 55 million Thai citizens will benefit from the measure if the PTP wins the election.Populist policiesThe plan will cost $15 billion and it is claimed that it will serve to revive the country’s struggling economy while providing relief to those struggling with debt. Additionally other populist measures will be pursued including an increase in the minimum wage and a minimum monthly household income guarantee. The policy has been met with mixed reactions from citizens, with some welcoming the extra cash and others accusing the party of blatant, cynical manipulation. The PTP has tried to sidestep accusations of manipulation by stating that the money will be limited to spending on local economic stimulus projects. Additionally, it cannot be used for gambling or debt repayment, and must be spent within a four-kilometer radius. The party’s chief adviser on public participation and innovation, Paetongtarn Shinawatra, called this policy an attempt to draw the attention of international currencies to Thailand.New crypto regulationsThis policy announcement comes just two months after the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) of Thailand issued new regulations for crypto service providers. The regulations were implemented to prevent a situation similar to the recent FTX collapse and hack, which resulted in the loss of millions of dollars’ worth of digital assets. The SEC has required service providers to establish a digital wallet management system to ensure efficient custody and to have a contingency plan in case of a security breach.Unintended consequencesWhile the PTPs policy has been met with criticism, it has also been seen as a bold move towards promoting the use of blockchain-based assets and digital currencies in Thailand. By offering citizens an incentive to use digital assets, the policy may encourage more people to explore this emerging market, which has the potential to create new opportunities for investment and economic growth.Populist politics and policy comes with a heavy longer term cost. The PTPs policy may be successful in achieving its intended goals, or it could ultimately lead to unintended consequences. Regardless of the outcome, the PTPs policy is a significant development in Thailand’s growing digital asset market and may set a precedent for other countries seeking to promote the use of blockchain-based assets and digital currencies. From an international perspective, even if the move backfires economically within Thailand, ever greater use and normalization of digital assets as in this case can only lead to greater overall adoption.
