Com2uS Platform celebrates X-PLANET's first anniversary with NFT airdrop

Web3 & Enterprise·March 22, 2024, 1:55 AM

Com2uS Platform, a subsidiary of South Korean game publisher Com2uS Holdings, yesterday revealed its plan for a non-fungible token (NFT) airdrop. This event is part of a celebration marking the one-year anniversary of its rebranded NFT marketplace, known as X-PLANET.

Popular intellectual properties

The NFT marketplace underwent a rebranding in March of last year, aiming to improve its integration with Com2uS' XPLA blockchain mainnet. Named X-PLANET, the platform is envisioned as a new planet where users can "explore" and "play." By November 2023, it had become the top revenue-generating local NFT marketplace, thanks in part to popular intellectual properties like the B.O.P Universe and Choushinsei Flashman. The B.O.P Universe draws inspiration from Bung O Pang Tycoon, a mobile game centered around baking pastries, while Choushinsei Flashman is a 1980s Japanese TV series known for its live-action superheroes.

NFT airdrop event

To mark the first anniversary of its rebranding, X-PLANET is hosting an NFT airdrop event on its official website. The event kicked off on March 21 and will have another round on April 4, at 6 p.m. KST, when 365 "Lucky Star" NFTs will be made available on a first-come, first-served basis. Owners of NFTs bearing lucky numbers will have the chance to earn double points during a B.O.P Universe event, which continues until April 14.

Additional benefits are in store for those purchasing NFTs for the first time and those visiting X-PLANET’s Discord channel. Moreover, participants who spread the word about the anniversary event and the B.O.P Universe contest on social media will be entered into a draw for a chance to win a coffee coupon.

Lee further stated that as the NFT marketplace representing the XPLA ecosystem, X-PLANET is committed to evolving into a user-friendly platform. Their goal is to create an environment that not only adds value but also provides entertainment, making it a welcoming space where anyone can participate and enjoy.

Recognized for its straightforward user interface and efficient trading system, X-PLANET has been introducing a collection of valuable NFT works across various domains, including art, games and K-pop. The NFT marketplace is actively pursuing collaborations with talented artists and prominent organizations to bring meaningful NFT content to its users.

OKX Ventures broadens portfolio to include Orbiter Finance

OKX Ventures, the investment arm of the well-known crypto exchange and Web3 technology company OKX, has recently disclosed a strategic investment in Singapore’s Orbiter Finance. Developing ZK-proof technologyThe investment marks a significant step forward in advancing the evolution of blockchain infrastructure, given that Orbiter Finance has achieved recognition for its innovation in the process of developing its zero-knowledge (ZK) technology-based omni-chain rollup on the Ethereum network. This initiative goes beyond Orbiter Finance's initial role as an asset cross-rollup bridge. Over the last two years, Orbiter has processed over 12 million transactions with a total transaction volume surpassing $7.8 billion. The protocol has amassed a user base of over three million and cultivated a community exceeding 700,000 users and enthusiasts.Photo by Shubham Dhage on UnsplashOrbiter Rollup announcementAccording to a series of posts on the X social media platform over the course of the weekend, the project is gearing up to launch a ZK-tech-based instant omni-chain rollup on Ethereum. A standout feature of the protocol is the integration of ZK Simplified Payment Verification (SPV) to authenticate Layer 2 transactions on the mainnet and combat fraudulent re-layers via the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM).  This development introduces a secure, efficient, low-cost and rapid communication mechanism for Ethereum, with the added security benefits of ZK-SPV enabling Orbiter Finance to grant complete access to the "Maker" role. This marks a significant milestone in achieving decentralization within blockchain infrastructure. Dora Yue, founder of OKX Ventures, expressed enthusiasm about spearheading the strategic investment in Orbiter Finance. She highlighted the protocol's ability to overcome traditional bridge limitations, specifically in terms of speed, and its crucial role in enhancing the efficiency of cross-chaining between various Layer 2s and the Ethereum mainnet. Other investors in the project include Redpoint China, Hash Global and Skyland Ventures. Supporting 19 networksCurrently supporting over 19 Layer 2 rollups and a multitude of native Ethereum assets, Orbiter Finance is positioning itself as a vital infrastructure component for the Layer 2 ecosystem. Yue commended the team's ongoing commitment to product upgrades and their dedication to ensuring a more decentralized and trustless foundation for the Layer 2 ecosystem's growth in 2024. With an initial capital commitment of $100 million, OKX Ventures is focused on exploring and supporting the best global blockchain projects, fostering cutting-edge technology innovation, and investing in projects that provide long-term structural value. The venture aims to nurture innovative companies by offering global resources and leveraging historical experience in the blockchain industry. Orbiter Finance also maintains an openness to incorporating additional networks. It has established strategic partnerships with key players such as Arbitrum, Optimism, Polygon, Linea, zkSync, Base, Starknet, Scroll, Manta Network and others. In this manner, it has solidified its position in the ecosystem. Notably, the protocol announced a collaborative strategic partnership with Ingonyama earlier this month, taking a step forward in advancing ZKP acceleration. Ingonyama is a next-generation semiconductor company specializing in ZK-proof technology. With that, it is actively exploring the integration of ICICLE, a GPU library for zero-knowledge acceleration, into Orbiter's ZKP system through multiple meetings and code-sharing initiatives.

Korean Cafe Attracts Customers with NFTs

Korean Cafe Attracts Customers with NFTsA South Korean cafe owner has employed non-fungible tokens (NFTs) as an ingenious marketing strategy to attract customers.©Pexels/Leeloo ThefirstNFT holder benefitsIn an interview with Korean crypto news outlet Digital Asset, Yoo Hyun, the entrepreneurial business owner, explained that he was seeking a strong marketing tool to capture the attention of the NFT market. Yoo was interested in seeing if his cafe could remain profitable while also offering substantial benefits to its customers.Since April 2022, Yoo has released a total of 50 Ethereum-based NFTs related to his cafe, Hide Me, Please (HMP), in two separate batches of 25 each. The first set of NFTs grants holders a free cup of coffee or drink daily for life, while the second set offers an extra drink or dessert with each drink purchased.Increased revenueThis unique NFT initiative has led to increased revenue for the cafe. Kim Dae-sung, the CFO of HMP, explained that the cafe’s monthly revenue increased by 15% compared to the same period last year.HMP is currently selling 500 NFTs as a third set and plans to release more depending on demand. Yoo highlighted the importance of an appealing interior design and tempting desserts, as NFT holders visiting for a free coffee may be enticed to purchase a dessert as well.Regular customersYoo asserts that the food and beverage industry hinges on retaining regular customers and believes NFTs can help achieve that objective. HMP aspires to become a community-based platform, and according to Kim, many digital artists are interested in the space that the cafe provides because it enables them to connect with clients. Collaborations often take place, and while the cafe charges for food and drinks, it does not charge for space rental. This approach fosters a positive impression and contributes to a strong brand image.High-quality cafeAt present, about 5% of HMP’s customers hold NFT memberships. Yoo and Kim plan to increase this number to 10% but no higher, as excessive reliance on NFT members could jeopardize the business. They underlined the significance of remaining a high-quality cafe, staying true to the core foundation of their enterprise. As they anticipate the growth of the Web 3.0 ecosystem, Yoo and Kim believe that with continued efforts, HMP will gain even greater value.
