Com2uS Platform celebrates X-PLANET's first anniversary with NFT airdrop

Web3 & Enterprise·March 22, 2024, 1:55 AM

Com2uS Platform, a subsidiary of South Korean game publisher Com2uS Holdings, yesterday revealed its plan for a non-fungible token (NFT) airdrop. This event is part of a celebration marking the one-year anniversary of its rebranded NFT marketplace, known as X-PLANET.

Popular intellectual properties

The NFT marketplace underwent a rebranding in March of last year, aiming to improve its integration with Com2uS' XPLA blockchain mainnet. Named X-PLANET, the platform is envisioned as a new planet where users can "explore" and "play." By November 2023, it had become the top revenue-generating local NFT marketplace, thanks in part to popular intellectual properties like the B.O.P Universe and Choushinsei Flashman. The B.O.P Universe draws inspiration from Bung O Pang Tycoon, a mobile game centered around baking pastries, while Choushinsei Flashman is a 1980s Japanese TV series known for its live-action superheroes.

NFT airdrop event

To mark the first anniversary of its rebranding, X-PLANET is hosting an NFT airdrop event on its official website. The event kicked off on March 21 and will have another round on April 4, at 6 p.m. KST, when 365 "Lucky Star" NFTs will be made available on a first-come, first-served basis. Owners of NFTs bearing lucky numbers will have the chance to earn double points during a B.O.P Universe event, which continues until April 14.

Additional benefits are in store for those purchasing NFTs for the first time and those visiting X-PLANET’s Discord channel. Moreover, participants who spread the word about the anniversary event and the B.O.P Universe contest on social media will be entered into a draw for a chance to win a coffee coupon.

NFT marketplace and blockchain ecosystem

Lee Luda, the Head of the Web3 Platform Business Division at Com2uS Platform, highlighted that the recent event was designed to show gratitude to X-PLANET users who have shown their support since the platform's rebranding. Lee further stated that as the NFT marketplace representing the XPLA ecosystem, X-PLANET is committed to evolving into a user-friendly platform. Their goal is to create an environment that not only adds value but also provides entertainment, making it a welcoming space where anyone can participate and enjoy.

Recognized for its straightforward user interface and efficient trading system, X-PLANET has been introducing a collection of valuable NFT works across various domains, including art, games and K-pop. The NFT marketplace is actively pursuing collaborations with talented artists and prominent organizations to bring meaningful NFT content to its users.

SK Geo Centric Launches Korea’s First Blockchain-Based Plastic Recycling Platform

SK Geo Centric Launches Korea’s First Blockchain-Based Plastic Recycling PlatformSK Geo Centric, a chemical affiliate of South Korea’s second largest conglomerate SK Group, has announced today the launch of the country’s first blockchain-based plastic recycling platform. This endeavor aims to ensure the safe and widespread use of recycled plastics by customers.Photo by mali maeder on PexelsAddressing environmental pollutionPlastic recycling has emerged as a promising solution to address environmental pollution. However, concerns have been raised about the source and safety of collected plastic waste. Recognizing the demand from customer manufacturers who utilize recycled plastic, SK Geo Centric developed the new platform to provide more comprehensive information than what is required by the International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC) PLUS, which the company previously obtained. The ISCC PLUS certification is a voluntary program designed for circular products, including chemicals and plastics, derived from using renewable energy sources. It is administered by ISCC, an independent multi-stakeholder initiative based in Germany. While adhering to the same certification standards as ISCC EU, ISCC PLUS allows for customization to meet the requirements of other markets.Blockchain techSK Geo Centric’s innovative platform utilizes blockchain technology to record and store every step of the plastic recycling process, ensuring transparency and traceability. Intermediate producers and end-users can access the complete history of recycled plastic by scanning the QR code on the product. Information such as the types, sources, and proportions of plastic waste used in a product, as well as the quality of materials, will be readily available. The history records will be stored in the form of non-fungible tokens (NFTs), providing proof of authenticity for the product. This information can be shared via email among the relevant parties. Manufacturers can now demonstrate to their customers the specific recycled materials used in their products.Market growth and efficient distributionSK Geo Centric believes that the systematic management of history records will enhance the credibility of the plastic recycling market, leading to its growth. Transparent records of high-quality and safe plastic waste will facilitate trading. Furthermore, real-time information on the recycled plastic market will enable efficient distribution within the industry.Recycling facilityIn addition to the platform, SK Geo Centric plans to establish the Advanced Recycle Cluster in Ulsan, a city in southern Korea, later this year. The presence of this plastic recycling facility is expected to expand the scale of the recycling market and attract more participants.Na Kyung-soo, CEO of SK Geo Centric, highlighted the importance of trust among market participants in fostering the development of the recycled plastic sector. The company is committed to improving its platform to earn the trust of its customers.

Korea Customs Service to form task force to combat crypto-related crimes

The Korea Customs Service (KCS) is preparing to establish a dedicated task force to combat the surge in cryptocurrency-related crimes. According to a report by local media outlet Joseilbo, this initiative was deliberated in a meeting chaired by KCS Commissioner Ko Kwang-hyo, specifically convened to discuss strategies against foreign exchange violations. The KCS reported that last year, it uncovered a total of 198 criminal incidents related to foreign exchange activities, with the combined value reaching approximately KRW 1.9 trillion ($1.4 billion).Photo by Mathew Schwartz on UnsplashCrypto involved in 88% of forex violations Of the total amount mentioned, violations of the Foreign Exchange Transaction Act comprised KRW 1.654 trillion, with 88% of these incidents involving virtual assets. This represents a dramatic surge in the involvement of virtual assets in financial crimes, especially when compared to 2020, where crypto-related offenses constituted 3% of the total value linked to forex violations. This trend underscores the rapidly growing role of virtual assets in such illicit activities. To address these issues, the KCS is set to broaden its crackdown on illicit cryptocurrency activities. This crackdown targets practices such as transferring foreign currency overseas to acquire virtual assets for arbitrage trading and using virtual assets to conceal trade payments, thereby attempting to bypass customs duties.Task force’s international collaborationAs part of this initiative, the country's customs agency aims to build a task force focused on tackling crypto crimes. This specialized group will be responsible for gathering and analyzing data, conducting investigations and recommending regulatory enhancements. The task force will collaborate with financial regulators to obtain crypto transaction records from domestic cryptocurrency exchanges. Moreover, it will work with customs authorities of other countries, including Hong Kong, to collect details on crypto transactions conducted abroad.
