India finance minister urges central bank to speed up CBDC rollout

India Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman urged the Reserve Bank of India, or RBI, to accelerate pilot programs for wholesale and retail digital rupees, citing tokenization and same-day settlement, Crypto Briefing reported. Sitharaman described CBDCs as a core part of India’s evolving financial infrastructure, according to the report.
