Bitcoin appears to be less sensitive than gold to moves in U.S. Treasury yields, according to a CoinDesk analysis.
As U.S. Treasury yields rise amid concerns about the country’s fiscal health, BTC and gold have continued to gain in tandem, the outlet said. The 90-day correlation coefficient between the two assets’ daily returns currently stands at 0.59, the highest level since 2020, indicating they have recently moved in broadly similar directions. By contrast, the 90-day correlation between BTC and the yield on the U.S. 10-year Treasury note was -0.17, suggesting Bitcoin is less tied than gold to the bond market and interest-rate changes. CoinDesk said this could leave BTC relatively less affected than gold by rising yields as U.S. fiscal uncertainty and financial-market pressure intensify.

The UK Financial Conduct Authority is considering easing restrictions on retail access to prediction markets, CoinDesk reported, citing The Times.
The report said the UK currently classifies contracts tied to financial and some weather-related outcomes as binary options and has barred retail investors from using them since 2019. It added that a review of the current rules is gaining traction as more UK users turn to offshore prediction market platforms such as Kalshi and Polymarket. The FCA’s official position remains in favor of keeping the existing ban. In a recent report, however, the regulator said the current rules were appropriate given the speculative nature of the products and the risk of consumer harm, while leaving open the possibility of further review of its market access approach or regulatory scope.

An attacker could gain control over about $91.3 billion worth of USDT on the Tron network if two signing keys are compromised, blockchain security firm Hacken warned.
Hacken said roughly half of Tether’s total USDT supply circulates on Tron and the network is structured so an attacker needs only two signing keys required for USDT control to seize smart contract administrative authority. Hacken explained Tron’s multisignature structure does not directly custody users’ USDT, but instead controls administrative privileges for the USDT smart contract. If an attacker obtains the two required signing keys, the attacker could change contract ownership, mint new USDT without authorization, or freeze specific addresses, according to Hacken. The firm added it found no timelock, cancellation procedure, or separate security mechanism to reverse changes during the administrator rights transfer process. Hacken also said similar risks may exist on other networks including Ethereum, Avalanche, and Celo.

The spot CVD chart is an order book analysis chart for the BTC/USDT spot trading pair. The upper section shows the volume heatmap, while the lower section shows cumulative volume delta, or CVD.
- The volume heatmap tracks trading volume by price range. The background becomes brighter when the price stays in a specific range for an extended period or moves sharply. Brighter zones may act as support or resistance levels.
- The cumulative volume delta indicator shows buy and sell orders by order size. As buy orders increase, the line in the corresponding color moves higher. The yellow line represents orders between $100 and $1,000, while the brown line reflects large orders between $1 million and $10 million, among other categories.

Zhuoer Jiang, founder of mining pool BTC.top and a blockchain entrepreneur with Chinese roots, said on X that he took profit on a Bitcoin short opened at $82,050 and closed at $79,480, then reinvested the full proceeds into Ether spot.
Jiang had previously said ETH was the main driver of the current bull market and could lead broader gains, while BTC could also rise alongside it. Jiang also said inflows were continuing, with a record $730 million in net inflows into crypto ETFs over the past three days, and added that the short position was intended only as a short-term trade. Jiang said BTC would likely struggle to break through the $83,000-$84,000 resistance zone in the near term.

The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas, or BSP, plans to suspend new applications for payment system operator licenses for 12 months while tightening rules for payment services tied to virtual asset service providers, Cointelegraph reported.
The BSP recently released a draft review of its classification and licensing framework for payment system operators that includes the proposal. Applications filed before the suspension will continue to be reviewed, but no approvals or rejections will be issued until the 12-month pause ends. The draft also requires BSP-supervised institutions offering merchant payment services to VASPs to sign direct merchant agreements and apply risk-based controls including enhanced due diligence, monitoring, and transaction and settlement limits. The rules would apply to crypto firms that must obtain a license, registration, or approval from the BSP, the Philippine SEC, or other relevant authorities. If finalized, the rules will take effect 15 days after publication in the official gazette. The BSP is currently gathering feedback from the industry and related authorities.

Bitcoin’s sharp recent recovery has stalled near a sell wall around the key $83,000 resistance level, while the overall wallet cohort has shifted to net selling for the first time since early June, led in particular by whales, CoinDesk reported.
According to Glassnode’s Accumulation Trend Score by wallet size, the overall wallet cohort is currently at 0.37. The indicator points to accumulation when it is closer to one and distribution when it is closer to zero. Wallets holding more than 1,000 BTC were identified as leading the selling. The shift follows roughly three months of active accumulation across most wallet cohorts last summer, when BTC was moving sideways in the $60,000 range.
Meanwhile, BTC is also facing resistance at its 50-week moving average of $79,687. CoinDesk added that a golden cross, in which the 50-day moving average rises above the 200-day moving average, could occur as early as Sept. 8, leaving room for expectations of further gains. According to CoinMarketCap, BTC was trading at $79,319.55, down 0.71%, at the time of writing.

Bitcoin’s on-chain apparent demand, a metric used to gauge spot demand, has turned negative again as retail investors continue taking profits even as BTC rebounds, Crypto Briefing reported, citing CryptoQuant data. The outlet said the indicator improved in August and briefly moved back into positive territory, but turned negative again around Sept. 1 as retail profit-taking resumed. That suggests selling by existing BTC holders is outpacing fresh buying demand entering the market, while institutional demand has yet to show a clear recovery.

Stablecoins can depeg even when reserves are sufficient if hit by an intense negative market narrative, according to a research report from Renmin University of China’s Institute of Fintech published in the Journal of International Money and Finance.
The report said it built a market model with heterogeneous investors using large language models, or LLMs, to analyze the stablecoin depegging process. It found that under low-intensity information shocks, arbitrage mechanisms maintained the peg, while once shock intensity crossed a threshold, negative investor intervention intensified and triggered a chain of fear, worsening liquidity, retail selling, and arbitrageurs pulling back. Under the highest level-five shock, the maximum price deviation widened by about 35 times versus scenarios below the threshold, the report said.
The researchers called the chain reaction "cognitive depegging" and added that, beyond reserve-related doubts, sufficiently strong regulatory actions, technical or security incidents, key-person risk, and macroeconomic fear could produce similar outcomes.

XRP is nearing a golden cross on its daily chart, with the short-term moving average poised to rise above the long-term moving average, a move that may point to a bullish trend reversal rather than continued sideways trading, according to a U.Today analysis.
U.Today said the 50-day moving average was moving toward a breakout above the 200-day moving average, which is typically viewed as a standard golden cross and a medium- to long-term bullish signal. The outlet said XRP was trading around $1.4 and remained above the 200-day moving average, adding that a period of consolidation often appears before a further advance. After that, the 200-day moving average could act as support and help lift the price further, U.Today said. If XRP holds above the 200-day moving average and the golden cross occurs, it could confirm a reversal of the downtrend that dominated most of this year, according to the outlet.

BitMEX co-founder Arthur Hayes has released the yellow paper for FLOP, a blockchain project for AI agents.
FLOP uses a proof-of-inference mechanism designed to let AI agents pay miners in FLOP tokens for AI inference tasks. Under the model, an AI agent submits a request to the mempool containing a model weight hash, maximum latency, compute volume and fees, after which a miner performs the inference task and returns a proof. Validators then include it in a block to complete settlement.
FLOP’s initial supply is about 2.48 billion tokens, all of which will be allocated to an airdrop. Initial rewards are set to be distributed as 75% for miners, 10% for validators, 10% for AI agents and 5% for general stakers.

Bitcoin liquidity is showing signs of improvement as the 30-day rate of change in realized cap turned positive after remaining in negative territory for 87 days, according to an analysis by on-chain analyst Axel Adler Jr.
Adler said the metric crossed above zero on Aug. 24 and rose from +0.10% to +0.88% as of Sept. 6. Realized cap also increased to $1.068 trillion, up $9.36 billion over the past 30 days. Adler explained that realized cap continued to rise even as BTC recently fluctuated around $80,000, which he viewed as a sign that the prolonged capital contraction is reversing. Adler added that for Bitcoin’s recovery to continue, the 30-day rate of change in realized cap must remain positive and total realized cap must keep expanding.
Realized cap is one of the most important indicators for assessing liquidity inflows and outflows, along with investor behavior and sentiment.

Major altcoin market indicators have broken out of declines lasting more than a year, signaling the market may be entering a bullish phase, cryptocurrency analyst Matthew Hyland said in an analysis on X.
Hyland said TOTAL2, which tracks altcoin market capitalization, TOTAL3, which excludes BTC and ETH, and an altcoin market-cap gauge excluding the top 10 cryptocurrencies by market value have all moved above downtrends that had lasted for more than a year. If past patterns repeat, Hyland said, the market may be approaching a major altcoin bull run, with upside that could surpass the 2020-2021 cycle.

Ethereum may have room to rise to $2,722 if it holds support around $2,475, crypto trader Ali Martinez said on X.
Martinez said around $2,475 is a key support zone where about 2.86 million ETH previously changed hands. If ETH stays above that level, Martinez said the token has relatively strong upside potential toward $2,722. He added that the $2,723-$2,822 range could cap or slow the rally, as more than 10 million ETH was traded in that zone and selling pressure may emerge.
