Former Credit Suisse global head of valuation risk CK Zheng said Bitcoin will top $150,000 by the end of 2027, according to Yahoo Finance.
Zheng said Bitcoin has moved past the worst phase of the current cycle and that the recent decline reflects the asset class’s maturation rather than a collapse seen in earlier periods. Zheng added that greater regulatory clarity, institutional adoption and the potential passage of the Clarity Act could drive the next bull market. Rising U.S. debt is also expected to boost demand for Bitcoin and gold as hedges against a weaker dollar, while scarcity and broader adoption could fuel fear of missing out among institutional investors and support further price gains.

The CME FedWatch tool shows a 65.9% probability that the Federal Reserve will raise its benchmark interest rate by 25 basis points at the September Federal Open Market Committee meeting, while the probability of a pause stands at 34.1%.
CME FedWatch, a rate outlook tool provided by CME Group, calculates the probability of future FOMC rate moves based on market expectations reflected in prices for 30-day federal funds futures. The gauge is therefore meaningful as an indicator of rate expectations currently priced in by financial market participants, rather than as the Federal Reserve’s official outlook.

The U.S. SEC and the U.S. CFTC are accelerating their own rulemaking for the crypto market while the fate of the CLARITY Act remains uncertain during Congress’s summer recess, Decrypt reported.
The two agencies launched a joint public comment process in June on swaps, security-based swaps, the definition of emerging products and the scope of each agency’s jurisdiction. In a comment letter recently submitted to the SEC in response to that joint request, former CFTC Chairman Chris Giancarlo and former SEC Commissioner Steven Wallman warned that setting the wrong regulatory standards for swaps, security-based swaps and emerging products could drive profitable markets overseas. Separately, the SEC recently asked the White House Office of Information and Regulatory Affairs to review a proposed revision to asset custody rules for investment advisers and investment companies. The proposal is expected to establish a regulatory framework for how SEC-regulated investment advisers and investment companies can hold digital assets such as cryptocurrencies while complying with federal securities laws, though the specific provisions have not yet been disclosed.

Coinbase CEO Brian Armstrong said on Katie Miller’s podcast that entrenched interests are opposing the Clarity Act, arguing they do not want to compete with crypto companies that can offer consumers better financial services and want to keep control of the broader financial services industry.
Armstrong also said President Donald Trump correctly recognized that millions of Americans felt alienated by the previous administration’s regulation of the crypto industry, and argued it is now time to pass the Clarity Act to protect consumers. He added the bill would benefit banks, law enforcement, crypto companies and, above all, the American people.

According to Wu Blockchain, citing an in-house report released by a16z crypto on Aug. 30 local time, buying cryptocurrency with pesos in Argentina effectively means buying dollars. In summary, Glassnode said the market appears to have entered a cautious transition phase.

A U.S. federal district court has dismissed an about $1.71 billion damages claim filed by SVB Financial Trust, the parent of Silicon Valley Bank, against the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. after finding SVB management made decisions that exposed the bank to excessive interest-rate and liquidity risk, Reuters reported.
The court found those decisions were a substantial cause of the losses tied to the bank’s 2023 collapse and said the FDIC could not be held liable for losses incurred during the disposal of assets after it took over SVB. The ruling came after a 12-day bench trial, eliminating the possibility that SVB could recover $1.7 billion from the FDIC. The FDIC had previously used the Deposit Insurance Fund, or DIF, to cover costs stemming from SVB’s failure, and the ruling also removed the possibility of additional burdens on the DIF.

Prediction market platform Kalshi said it will permanently ban former U.S. Rep. George Santos over insider trading allegations.
Santos is known to have made about $18,000 by betting on a prediction market contract over whether he would attend President Donald Trump’s State of the Union address. The U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission concluded in July that Santos traded while in a position to influence the outcome of the event and posted false or misleading information on social media that affected market prices, completing a settlement process in the case. The CFTC banned Santos from trading for three years and ordered the disgorgement of about $17,569 in profits, along with a $17,500 civil penalty.
