On-chain analyst IT Tech said a pattern seen around past market bottoms is reappearing as long-term Bitcoin holdings increase արագly, according to a CryptoQuant contribution.
IT Tech said the key metric in this cycle is BTC supply that has remained unmoved for six to 12 months. That cohort’s share of the aggregate holder cost basis jumped to 30.8% from 16.2% on Dec. 16 last year, while the share held for three to six months fell to 7.7% from 24.8% over the same period. The shares of BTC held for 12 to 18 months and 18 months to two years also rose to 17.0% and 9.9%, respectively.
IT Tech said BTC has been staying in wallets rather than moving to exchanges during the correction, extending a shift in which short-term holdings turn into long-term holdings. IT Tech assessed the pattern as one that typically appears in the early stage of a bull market and said a similar flow was seen before the 2022 market bottom. At the same time, BTC is currently at $75,000, down 40% from the $126,000 peak in October last year, though still far above the 2022 bottom range. IT Tech therefore assessed the current setup as closer to an interim bottom formed during a rising cycle than to the final bottom of the full cycle.

Malaysia has emerged as one of the most crypto-open Islamic markets, supported by clear regulations and sharia standards, Wu Blockchain said. The Shariah Advisory Council under the Securities Commission Malaysia approved major cryptocurrencies including BTC, ETH, XRP and XLM as sharia-compliant assets from 2020 through the first half of 2026. As of mid-2026, 10 digital asset businesses had received regulatory approval. In 2025, trading volume on regulated exchanges in Malaysia rose 23% from a year earlier to more than $4 billion, equivalent to about 2.5% of local stock market turnover. Banking-sector support remains limited to transaction-related services for licensed operators.

With financial markets largely pricing in a 25-basis-point rate hike by the U.S. Federal Reserve’s Federal Open Market Committee, on-chain analyst Axel Adler Jr said stronger-than-expected signals of further hikes could increase downside pressure on stocks and BTC.
In a blog post, Adler said CME FedWatch showed a 92.7% probability of a 25-basis-point hike, with rates expected to rise to 3.75%-4.00%. Since 1988, there have been seven cases in which the Fed began a rate-hike cycle, and in five of those cases the S&P 500 fell six weeks after the first hike, Adler said. The average return across all seven cases was -2.83%. Adler added that the market’s path afterward varied depending on how long tightening lasted and on economic conditions at the time. With the rate hike itself already substantially priced in, Adler said the key question is what signal the Fed sends about additional hikes ahead. If the Fed delivers a stronger tightening signal than expected, extra pressure could be put on stocks and BTC.

On-chain analyst Willy Woo said there is a 90% chance Bitcoin has already formed its bottom under the four-year cycle framework. Woo said long-term investors’ capital is returning to the market and the current liquidity structure resembles the early stage of a bull market, indicating the bottom has likely already been set.
He added that while the four-year cycle pattern has had considerable predictive power in the past, he is no longer intentionally using that pattern as a reference. Woo also said that even if this outlook proves correct, it is unclear how long the bull market would last, and the four-year cycle pattern itself is weakening.

Bitcoin’s decline began before the U.S. Senate’s vote on the Clarity Act, making it difficult to explain the recent pullback solely by the bill’s defeat, according to on-chain analytics firm Santiment.
In a post on X, Santiment said BTC had already fallen about 5% from its Sept. 3 peak before the vote, while the additional drop during the voting period was just 1.7%. That means the decline tied to the vote accounted for less than one-quarter of the total 7% pullback from the peak, Santiment said.
Santiment added that its weighted social media sentiment indicator hit a 30-day high on Sept. 14, according to local time references in the source, a day before the vote, while social media mention volume on Sept. 15 reached its highest level in 14 days. It also said sentiment remained positive when the bill was voted down.
Still, Santiment said it was difficult to identify what caused BTC to fall during the 12 days before the vote, adding that the U.S. Federal Reserve’s FOMC rate decision is scheduled for early Sept. 16.

Financial markets have effectively priced in a 25-basis-point rate hike at the U.S. Federal Reserve’s September Federal Open Market Committee meeting, with some additional tightening this year also already reflected, CoinDesk reported. The outlet said the current backdrop is a nightmare for Fed Chair Kevin Warsh, as less-hawkish-than-expected remarks could weaken the dollar while lifting long-term Treasury yields amid inflation and U.S. debt concerns. That could trigger near-term selling pressure on risk assets, but later turn supportive for Bitcoin and gold, according to the report.
CoinDesk added investors may still view the Fed’s monetary policy as accommodative and come to expect further rate hikes, while confidence in the central bank’s ability to contain inflation could also erode. In that scenario, Bitcoin could draw attention as a store of value that can avoid currency debasement and Treasury risk, potentially rising after an initial bout of selling, according to the analysis.

AI is having an overall negative impact on the crypto industry, Phemex CEO Federico Variola said in an interview with Cointelegraph, citing capital leaving the sector for other fields and more threatening hacking capabilities for attackers.
Variola said rising security costs are putting greater pressure on small teams and could deepen centralization during the response process. At the same time, Variola added AI agents could still be useful for portfolio construction and trading decisions.

South Korean police have decided not to refer Democratic Party lawmaker Kim Nam-kuk to prosecutors after determining there was no evidence to support allegations that he underreported his assets, Yonhap reported.

Police also reviewed the findings of a 2023 investigation by the Seoul Southern District Prosecutors’ Office into the so-called Kim Nam-kuk coin controversy, which first drew attention to Kim’s large cryptocurrency holdings, before deciding not to send the case forward, according to Yonhap.
